It’s fun to dunk on Trump and the war in Iran isn’t helping but the market was telling us something long before that.

The more important headline: Trump was willing to prosecute an Olympian, potentially resulting in prison time for a US citizen, rather than admit his own failure. If he’s willing to do that over something this petty, what will he do when really threatened? That should alarm all of us.

This is brilliant. Just a logical, thoughtful, and perfect description of the impact coming to the US because of the attack on science and education.

It may be tempting to dismiss Trump's Thursday speech as paranoid and pathetic, but he holds the power of the presidency and has made clear how he intends to wield it. It's crucial we pay attention. Read more from Susan Corke

They act like adversaries couldn’t figure this out just as quickly as the reporters did. But sure subpoena reporters like they do authoritarian countries. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck then it’s probably fascist regime.

Why is it the reflecting pool story seems to have more legs in the media than 1) Epstein, 2) Iran folly, 3) Cuba, 4) Venezuela, 5) extra judicial murders in the Caribbean, 6) Doge lasting impacts, 7) Trump family corruption, 8) damaging spats with allies including Spain, Italy, Denmark, etc.

This is the answer. And when he finally passes, it will be ”the man just died, now isn’t the time to talk about that”. Then Trump will do something stupid, and it won’t even be coordinated, he always does stupid stuff. Then the media will move on.

In addition to more, aren’t they also getting further away? And the real question, is the damage lasting or are they able to get many of these back on line? If greater distances and not many coming back on line, even maintaining the same pace becomes even more impressive let along accelerating.

We should get rid of betting on politics AND polling. Instead of having politicians polling us to figure out what they should say to get another sliver of the vote, imagine how much better off we’d be if they had to speak based on their actual beliefs. Betting is corruption. Polling is an alibi..

I'm more concerned about what Trump will do as a result of this polling. That's the real risk right now. He's just going to flail about even more, including taking crazy actions to mess with the elections, rather than risk facing actual consequences.
