Couldn't agree more. Absolute madness. Crazy decision from an education and health and wellbeing point of view too. My son is now out in the heat unsupervised. Closing schools whilst also warning of drowning risk is just wrong. What about teaching resilience and importance of attendance and exams? 🤔

If someone chooses to live in a smaller home in the inner city in part to avoid a long commute, they generally don’t pressure society to build them a bigger house with more stuff. So if you choose a bigger stuff-filled house in the suburbs, don’t expect society to build you a fast car commute.

When you see the story about how the world now has its first trillionaire, and when you see the story about how laboratories in Congo have run out of supplies to test for Ebola, it is important to understand that in many ways these are the same story.

The Dutch mobility system isn't just built around cycling. It's built around bike-train intermodality: cycling solves the train's convenience problem and the train solves cycling's range problem. Together, they offer an attractive alternative to driving on a mass scale. WATCH: youtu.be/jq93DgLvmFc

Tirana has emerged in recent years as the Balkans’ most ambitious cycling city. What began as a modest effort to introduce bike infrastructure has grown into a broader vision of child-friendly urbanism; combining hardware, software, and orgware into a wholistic strategy for reclaiming public space.🧵

Yep. Time for @brumgreens.bsky.social and Lib Dems to do a review of the Brum CAZ and if it's working (it is a bit) then enhance it. City wide resident parking permits & workplace parking levy too. Prevent disease, boost growth & productivity & protect the NHS (bonus = provides skint city £££).

For reasons, I was looking up residents' parking permit costs in Amsterdam East this week. €200 for the first permit and €500 for the second. Oh, and that's for 6 months, not a year. If you are near the district centre, you can have one permit; two permits elsewhere. There is no waiting list!

Spent a lot of time in East Surrey hospital recently. The main takeaway is England needs to thank our lucky stars for immigrants! The black, brown, African and Asian people in there are cleaning, feeding, caring, medicating, comforting and life saving in the most difficult circumstances. Thank you!

How dare you question things you see on social media! 😃 What I think this does illustrate is that everyone needs to be given better access to affordable transport and physical activity. Know many are pushing Lime to expand already, although need a safe cycling network asap across Brum to aid that.
