Wolf. I spend a lot of time on two wheels. Day job starting at screens. Motorcycle racer for fun & business but not much profit. Fursuiter & licensed clown. Kinky, queer, weirdo. 40-ish, awoo/he/they. A crankycoyote on birdsite. PDX local.

Ugh, I wish I tolerated THC better. I’ve been taking a low dose (5mg) THC/CBD gummy as needed to help me sleep the past 2 months. It’s been less effective the last few weeks so I decided to try two last night to see if that helped. Ended up very altered and nauseous all night. Not pleasant.

I have been insistent on not calling myself a software engineer for most of my 25 years in the industry because what we do is not engineering, it’s just programming. If we were engineers we would be legally and professionally accountable for our bad choices, and we’re not.

Work and the 26-27 COVID vaccine are really conspiring to make today miserable. I love arguing with people who don’t listen about a “bug” that is a content problem while shivering from a 100f fever and no sleep.

I had to knock out a quick response to this garbage. Wouldn't it be amazing if they actually commissioned a real artist? Wouldn't it have been so easy? There's so many of us who would've been so happy to be involved in a project like this.

Transphobia is a losing strategy. If you’re telling trans people to eat shit for the cause you either know this and want cover for your own transphobia or you don’t know this and think it’s morally acceptable to mark some bodies and lives for death in the name of expediency. Fix your hearts or die.

My final thought for the night: In 2019 I spent a week at BYU co-leading discussions on how to better support queer students. It was exhausting & bewildering & now a blur, but something one student said hit like a ton of bricks, when asked why they chose to come to a hostile environment for school:

It’s sadly not, if you know our history. The PNW looks progressive, and is on some things, but there’s a deep reactionary/racist core here. There’s a reason why Idaho is full of actual Nazis & Oregon was the only state to enter the union with a Black exclusion law.
000
Timber @timber.coyotes.org · 30/07/2026
I think that’s par for the course, especially in the PNW. I brought receipts of a local congoer / chat member’s involvement with actual self-identified Nazis, including Foxler, and the local con wouldn’t even remove him from the con chat, much less ban him.

Your Omaha story was pitch-perfect, felt like a true visit with so many of those favorite characters, and was worth the price all by itself. It was such a comfort to think about Omaha and Chuck and Shelley making it from the age they were in the comic to the age I am now.

It's World Marine Aids to Navigation Day on the 1st July, so here's a quick thread on some aids to navigation. Now the first and most obvious aid to navigation is dry land. Dry land - pay attention at the back - is strongly suggestive that you can't go sailing here.

“Raven’s End” by Ben Gadd is good if you can find it. If you’ve read “The Blood Jaguar” by Michael H Payne and liked it, he’s got several more books set in that universe (Rat’s Reputation, Crow’s Curse).

It’s a little thing, but it makes me sad that JL Darling discontinued my favorite field notebook (Rite-In-The-Rain 373-M, 3.25x5 side spiral). I had a system with a Zebra TS-3 pencil that fit perfectly in a shirt pocket; the top spiral notebooks won’t work for it. Sic transit etc.

Sailing it took a few days. Flying, lots of fresh air helps and anything to get your eyes up (“your aircraft” helps instantly, lol). Otherwise, if the patches or Dramamine aren’t cutting it, highly recommend keeping a few emesis bags handy; they’re way easier to barf into than ad hoc containers.

How the week is going: - I’ll have 24h worked by end of day today. It’s Tuesday. - The Big Boss on the main gig let it be known that he expects us to go full AI and that dev velocity must increase *4X* as a result before the end of the year. - The guy I contract to called him a “visionary” & agreed.

Cleaning things with “How It’s Made” in the background, because it’s pretty lonely here without my cat. It’s an episode about sewing rawhide lamps, with closeups of stretched sheepskin, and it’s just pure horror. “Only the highest quality skin is used.” “A proprietary moisturizer is applied next.”

Current status: dying in the La Brea Task Pits. Not too depressed to work, which is good because I’m drowning in it. The anhedonia severely muffles anything else though. Severely task saturated & dopamine deprived. Life is a TODO list.

If the Bambu Labs printers are a bit too dear, the Elegoo Centauri Carbon might be an option. I have one and it’s been very minimal setup to get decent quality prints out of it, for less than half the price of an X1.

I tried to track down the source of the info, just in case there was some really interesting new technique for prehospital management of neck hemmorage, but all I found was more AI slop and an imaginary device they were calling a Kirk Collar. Three guesses what inspired that slopject…
