Goodbye, old friend. After the 2025 storms when some limbs came off, the cedar in the Rectory grounds was professionally inspected: verdict, too unhealthy to remain. The little encouraging bit was the Yew sapling I found nestling in the underbrush, that will bring joy to future decades.

He lies with comrades in Ipswich old cemetery. When we lived at Christchurch Street when I was a boy, without realising it I passed by on Sundays walking to/from Humber Doucy Lane for MiniRugby at Ipswich Rugby Club. [Nobody would let an unaccompanied child do that nowadays!]

In his pomp #MarcosAyerza was the world's leading Loose Head Prop forward. Toro's quiet demeanour was transferred to massive skill and power on the field. Marcos is also one of the finest of people in Rugby. Genuinely humble and generous; and unafraid of meeting the fans in the Final Whistle Bar.
