European red list of moths - Publications Office of the EU
This European Red List of Moths provides a comprehensive assessment of the extinction risk of moth species across Europe and the EU27, contributing to the wider effort to measure the state of European biodiversity. The assess- ment applies the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria to evaluate species’ conservation status and identify those at risk of extinction. It aims to support evidence-based policy, guide conservation priorities, and improve understanding of moth populations, trends and threats across the region. This first European Red List of Moths represents a major collaborative effort drawing on the expertise of specialists from across Europe. All Red List assessments rely on the collective knowledge and commitment of experts, and the authors gratefully acknowledge the many lepidopterists who contributed to this project. Their willingness to share data, expertise and time on a voluntary basis made this assessment possible.
