when i worked at sbux in high school they kept scheduling me for like 35 hours a week and i kept saying i can't work this schedule i have to go to school. turned out they were hugely overscheduling kids to avoid giving enough hours to the adults that they would've qualified for health insurance

I stand with Brett Karlan. Analytic philosophers and other humanists don't get along and each will pretend its because the other is annoying whereas they are not, but in fact the fight is simply between two diametrically opposed ways of being annoying. None of us are normal, none of us are bearable.

We (@jimurillo98.bsky.social) went for an easy run (with strides), returned stuff we didn't need, got our vaccines, did yoga, did philosophy, and even hung our laundry outside instead of using the dryer today. In case you were wondering

We are a broken nation. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians were living and working legally, paying taxes, and contributing. Haiti remains wholly unsafe. But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.

Those with terminated TPS are in our nation Illegally. They have two options: LEAVE IMMEDIATELY or be DEPORTED.

anyway not to pull marxist rank, but this is too idealist and you ought to be more materialist. the reason most philosophy professors are squishy libs is because of their class position, not because they reckon intuitions about thought experiments

Very embarrassing for me, a guy who never wants anyone to read his papers ever, but I published a paper in 2023 about how any view of achievement that sees humanoid robots (or cars or plans) as threats to human sporting achievements is a very silly view of achievement philpapers.org/rec/KARHAA-2

Not to be some wild-eyed innocent, but I think it should be slightly bigger news that The Lancet have crunched the numbers and found that Musk's USAID cuts will kill 14 million people. And that's just by 2030. That's 9,600 people a day, every day, until the next world cup rolls around.

What is even more striking is that data centre demand has matched 93% of the growth in renewable electricity generation (wind + solar + hydro) over the past decade. If we measure since 2020, data centre demand has grown nearly 3-times faster than renewable electricity growth.
