Again, I want wrestlers to have health benefits. I want them to unionize. There is plenty more AEW and Tony Khan could be doing to make this a reality, but lets not act like they haven’t done far more for their independent contractors than the business has ever seen.

Ask Amanda Huber how she feels about how AEW treats its talent. I’ll wait. While PAC’s career likely contributed to his untimely death, I don’t think it’s fair for this article to assume AEW is identical to what the WWF/WWE has been and continues to be.

The article quotes CM Punk and Rey Fenix as former AEW talent who had a problem with their health system. Allow me to laugh out loud. If you don’t know, look up how both of them left the company and why. Also look up how CM Punk talked about WWE the first time he was fired.

The PPV Full Gear got its name because of PAC. He spent months overseas being paid simply because he wanted to be at home. He believed fully in what AEW is doing and said as much. Tony Khan has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars out of his own pocket for wrestlers surgeries and treatment.

This article doesn’t talk at all about the countless contracts AEW has honoured when they didn’t have to so wrestlers could continue to be paid if they were not in a storyline or injured. It doesn’t mention once that PAC was a Day One AEW star and had nothing but the highest praise for the company.

I’m not opposed to wrestlers receiving benefits and unionizing, in fact I completely support it. However I have a real problem with this article conflating PAC’s sudden passing with how WWF/E treated its wrestlers over the decades. AEW is a vastly different work environment. 🧵
