My third novel, HERO COME HOME, officially has a cover! Preorderable from the usual places us.macmillan.com/books/978125...
The cover of my third novel, HERO COME HOME. Four human figures centred, the main image being that of a bearded man looking back over his shoulder (that's Oro, the protagonist), with a circle of symbols behind him. We can see a swan and a key. In the foreground are three people: two women, one with a mysterious marking? scar? who knows!? on her cheek and the other carrying a sword, flanking an older, balding man holding up a pistol. The possibly-scarred woman looks ever so slightly amused, and that is certainly very like her. Everybody else is not happy to be here, or indeed, anywhere

THE POISON PALACE: unfolds the era of Alexander the Great's conquering rampage across Eurasia with a graceful, fiery verisimilitude both intimate & mythic...from the Indian subcontinent & stretching all the way to ancient Babylon--it resounds in time, & sings to the present with a singular voice.

Much gratitude to Usman for his kind words. He's a fantastic writer himself, one I've read as a fellow South Asian (our governments & ethnonationalists may hate each other, but the people of our countries are joined by history and culture) for a long time now. I'm so excited for his debut novel:

Do faculty in India get special training to turn into the heartless psychopaths that their institutions need? Or is it targeted hiring? What are students supposed to think when they see a faculty responding to a student suicide with this tweet?

Ted Chiang's fav writing quote is from her essay 'Write till you drop' "There is something you find interesting, for a reason hard to explain. It is hard to explain because you have never read it on any page; there you begin. You were made and set here to give voice to this, your own astonishment."

Ms. Rachel: "Ed Sheeran had an opportunity…Instead he caved to people who refuse to accept what the world knows." "If more than 20,000 white children were killed…everyone would be shouting…Treating some children's lives as less worthy of outrage is racist. Silence during a genocide is not neutral."
Ms. Rachel post:
"Ed Sheeran had an opportunity show that we won't be bullied into punishing people for supporting Palestine. Instead he caved to people who refuse to accept what the world knows. A genocide is happening in Gaza. We all need to speak out against it.

"If more than 20,000 white children were killed in another part of the world, everyone would be shouting about it at their concerts. Treating some children's lives as less worthy of outrage is racist. Silence during a genocide is not neutral."

Just a reminder as the new academic year kicks off - the UK government has deliberately, ruthlessly, throttled the recruitment of international students, solely to pander to racists, and the resultant 25%+ fall in numbers can and will only accelerate some universities into bankruptcy.

Three destinations (1956) Remedios Varo
Surrealist Oil Painting ( as shown, in monochrome)

Three architectural structures, one person in each, engaged in different activities (writing, playing instrument, quaffing from a vessel: all alone yet connected by umbilical threading and woven light to the above)

It is mystical, contemplative, and depicts the connection to self, each other, the world around and within.
