The Front-End Community is Still Alive and Beautiful
I thought about dropping an addendum into my last post to say just how overwhelmed I am, in the best possible way, by the way all of you in the front-end community have shown up to show support, both for me and for CSS-Tricks. I started to do that but then felt a new post...

Sometimes you look at an old HTML document and see some weird tags and snippets from bygone eras. I've complied many legacy HTML bits I've noticed and documented what they were and why there were present. Many of them are rather obscure. Satisfy your curiosity: vale.rocks/posts/html-r...

Sums it up pretty much. #NFL #NFCWest #49ers #Seahawks #Rams #Cardinals
The standings of the NFC West teams after Week 6 visualized as a meme of a 4-headed dragon. The first three dragon heads look pretty confident and dangerous and symbolize the teams San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams that all have a 4-2 record. The fourth dragon head that looks clumsy symbolizes the Arizona Cardinals, that have a 2-4 record.

The overflow: hidden property and sticky headers
While working on Kelp, my UI library for people who love HTML, I learned something new-to-me: Setting overflow: hidden prevents the position: sticky property from working. It doesn’t even matter if the hidden overflow is in the scroll direction. Setting overflow-x: hidden to prevent horizontal scroll prevents sticky headers from sticky with vertical scrolling. I also learned that overflow: clip solves this very problem! The overflow: clip property produces the same visual effect as overflow: hidden.
