So let's get this straight: Russia just murdered over 65 people in Ukraine in less than 48 hours. Crushed a building on top of sleeping families to celebrate Putin's birthday. And today, the U.S. announces that they are lifting sanctions on Russian diesel and planning to buy some,

Your regular reminder that almost everything Trump is getting away with is not because of presidential strength, but because of congressional weakness and judicial deference. The constitutional tools are already there to fix this, but those who can fix it are refusing to do so.

Let me make this very clear. Diesel prices have spiked because of Trump's war against Iran. Ukraine has nothing to do with it. But by buying russian diesel now, Americans will be helping fund the murder of Ukrainian children in their beds. Congratulations, folks.

Hard to overstate how much Hegseth's execution stream mirrors the U.S. military's traditional description of ISIS propaganda: broadcast killings designed to send a message, strike fear and create a social media spectacle. Will almost certainly be repurposed by online terror cells

Yes! It's troubled me that the Today Programme seems to be leaning towards support for the death penalty as revenge. In the cases of both Christa Pike and Nidal Hasan they've had victims or their families on saying why they should die. Nothing about the wider harm and brutalising of society.

With this and Christa Pike, it seems to me that too many discussions of capital punishment revolve around whether it’s deserved and not the moral damage engaging in a culture of death does to us as humanity, regardless of the crime.

Greens do 'things differently', says source over former deputy's criticism
A Green Party source has responded to earlier comments from Caroline Lucas on the party's motion at its conference over the weekend.
They say: "There are ups and downs in politics and when people are passionate they disagree in the heat of a campaign."
The source adds: "We do things differently, unlike Labour who use anonymous sources and resort to factionalism."
