The tragedy of Biden's presidency is not its lack of success, but how little its success was recognized. The claim Democrats don't have a policy program is false. Finishing the projects Biden began, working with Bernie Sanders and others, should be central to the project of the next president.

Joe Biden's underrated presidency
He's achieved a lot — with the notable exception of popularity.

There will be a lot of equivocating about all the times search warrants have been executed on members of Congress for corruption investigations and the like, and it can't be stressed enough in how many ways HSI raiding Ilhan Omar is extremely not like that.

Conservatives have been screaming bloody murder that Jack Smith lawfully collected call data on Trump allies in 2023 and 2024. But executing a search warrant on Omar’s house a few weeks before the election is totally cool.

I am in Cap Haitien interviewing people deported from the United States. I have been doing this kind of work for almost a decade and it literally does not get more dire than this. People have lost everything they built in the U.S. and are terrified and have no place to go or way to live.

This is yet another telling example of the Trump regime’s racism. There’s no pretense here of targeting criminals - the usual excuse for mass deportations. DHS is specifically encouraging Haitian “doctors, lawyers, scholars and engineers” to leave. Any decent society would value these people.
DHS encourages “doctors, lawyers, scholars and engineers” to leave with some sort of $3,000 payout, its naked racism.

This is so basic. It is not USPS' job to decide whether ballots are eligible or not. That's the job of the state election officials. USPS' job is simply to ensure that the ballots get from election officials to the voters and then from the voters back to election officials. That's it.

These people had protected status. They lived here legally. They worked, they paid taxes. They made lives. Raised families. Now we’ve dehumanized them. Ripped away that protection and told them to get out. This is a stain on the soul of this Nation.

USPS’s job is to deliver the mail even if some mailed ballots genuinely are fake, illegal, fraudulent, or otherwise invalid. It’s on election administrators to catch and reject those, and they do. USPS has no role in it and the very idea mucks up the systems we actually have for election integrity.

Stop referring to anti-vaxers and election deniers as folks who tried to do their own research but got it wrong. What they really did was watching some YouTube clips. At most they read an article (which they didn't understand). This is neither "research" nor "their own"!

The thing you need to understand is that there are 2 (TWO) different method for amending the constitution 1) The process laid out in the constititon itself (conventions, or 2/3's of both houses followed by 3/4 of states ratifying) OR 2) find five votes on the Supreme Court.

In order to stay ahead of the curve here, I'd like to note that the U.S. has no grounds to invade Cuba, arrest or change its leaders, take control or directly influence its actions or, for that matter, to be blockading it right now forcing its people to suffer. Nor is any of that in our interest.

One of the VERY FIRST things done after the Constitutional Convention in 1787 was to have the text of the new Constitution translated into Dutch and German, which were at the time the two largest non-English language spoken in the United States. Here's the National Archives making this point:
The months between signing and ratification were a busy period for the country. The proceedings of the Constitutional Convention had been kept secret, so each state needed to inform its voters of what exactly the proposed new government contained. Congress therefore directed the state legislatures to call ratification conventions in each state, with delegates specifically elected to approve or disapprove the new government.

However, this meant that each state from New Hampshire to Georgia had to receive a copy of the text, submit it to public debate, elect delegates, meet, vote, and return the results to Philadelphia. In an era where the speed of travel was limited by horseback, stagecoach, and boat, this was no quick feat. After the end of the Convention the news of the Constitution spread out in a wave, and thousands of copies were republished by local printers and distributed for debate. A flurry of newspaper articles, pamphlets, and public meetings followed, hotly debating whether the Constitution would be a good framework for a new national government.

Part of the debate and ratification process involved translation: non-negligible portions of the electorate spoke languages other than English. To reach them, the document was translated into Dutch in New York and German in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

It is wrong and criminal for government agents to kidnap someone, send them to die in a concentration camp, and disappear them, regardless of immigration status. But it's still worth noting she has a green card. The government doesn't even pretend this is about deporting undocumented people.

The Supreme Court refuses to review the 5th Circuit's extremely dubious ruling against Rodney Reed's request for a DNA test, which could prove the death row inmate's innocence. (There is a very good chance he is innocent!) All three liberals dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...
It is inexplicable why the Bastrop County District Attorney’s Office refuses to allow DNA testing of the belt that
was used to kill Stites, despite the very substantial possibility that such testing could exculpate Reed and identify
the real killer. It is also inexplicable why the courts below
did not proceed with more caution and carefully consider
each of Reed’s arguments, especially given that his claim
implicates the “constitutionally intolerable” possibility of
the “execution of a[n] . . . innocent person.” Herrera v. Collins, 506 U. S. 390, 419 (1993) (O’Connor, J., concurring).
The Court should vacate the Fifth Circuit’s judgment and
remand the case for the Fifth Circuit to address Reed’s argument in the first instance. Because the Court refuses to
do so, the State will likely execute Reed without the world
ever knowing whether Reed’s or Fennell’s DNA is on the
murder weapon, even though a simple DNA test could reveal that information. I respectfully dissent.
