Surround yourself with people who love you, and tell you how rad your hyper fixations are, even if they have no interest in that thing. They see the beauty in the weird things you do, even when you might not see it yourself.

99% of the people who have seen it in person and been like "whoa this is awesome!" are not collectors. They're not even gamers. They're just friends who saw what I was doing and thought it was rad. That made me feel better about this silly collection that I've been working on for 25 years.

Just after I put my game collection back together, I got these pangs of guilt. I had this nagging feeling that I should not own this many video games. "Was this all a juvenile waste of money?" I thought. But then everyone in my life has been like "this is so rad that you have this".

Here's a fun story: When I was in high school in Canada, I played on the school's football team as a defensive lineman. Most of my time playing was getting hit. A lot. Nothing much more than that. One time, I misread the play, and was in the wrong place at the start of the play.

You're not wrong. Gameye has been pretty good so far. It's just weird that the most mainstream Japanese releases are the blindspots in this case. They seem to have every weird retro Japanese game I own, though.

Not that much, afaik. Release date, back of the box summary, age rating, genre, developer, publisher, image of the front of the box. You can grab most of that from Mobygames.

I think it would be very funny if the movie was so darkly lit, that everyone had different interpretations of who died.

I assume it's because those rare Famicom games were JP only releases, increasing the chances that English speaking players would import them and add those entries to the database. both Odyssey and Fire Emblem Musou came out in EN, so there's no reason to import either.

I didn't expect this. Gameye's bar code reader and database have no problem with super rare famicom games, but they have no entries for mainstream titles like the JP versions of Super Mario Odyssey and Fire Emblem Musou for Switch. Now I have to spend time submitting these entries...

Thanks to recommendations, I started cataloguing the collection using Gameye. It's actually quite good. I like that it's able to estimate the value of games added based on the condition.

It's weird to me that in Fortune's Weave's world map, the spots you've exhausted are a bright off white, but the places you haven't been are a more faded color. In my mind, it should be the opposite.

I was just using Gameye and it couldn't find the second FDC Famicom Mini release. Or, it could find it, but it had no details and I couldn't add it to the collection. I'll give it another try. Maybe the Android app has issues.

My litmus test for the database is that it includes the Famicom Mini release of Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir for GBA.
