The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 02/07/2026"What is a trans-forward indie press?" turns out being a much more fraught question than expected lol. I've narrowed the scope because I've realized a broader scope would require writing about like 25 outlets. 0264
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 02/07/2026I've started working on the indie press article, and have immediately realized that it's more involved than I remember from last time. My 2024 aim was to give a historical overview, which turns out to be significantly easier than a contemporary overview. 2273
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 02/07/2026Oop fair enough. It wasn't very useful though. Whoever renovated the page gave it a massive upgrade. 130
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 02/07/2026There is, TFR is also in the reference section at the end of the article. 110
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 02/07/2026Gotta say that if I'm gonna be on Wikipedia for anything, this is an inclusion I'll happily wear with pride. 0321
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 02/07/2026Oh hey I'm on Wikipedia lol. That's cool. I'm not sure when Wikipedia got a page on trans literature, but I'm pretty sure it didn't exist two years ago. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transge... 4594

The art is *gorgeous*. And it's free! 1208
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026It could make a solid subreddit. r/changemycover. 090
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026There is not but creating a platform to connect former AI users with real book cover artists would be a very cool project, if someone wanted to make it. @bookspotlight.bsky.social I feel like you'd appreciate this conversation. 1102
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026We should be encouraging and educating about the damage AI does within the publishing industry. Any time a writer makes the decision to change their business practices is a win in my book. 1133
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026I have been quietly lobbying the trans Kindle Unlimited circuit to stop using AI covers. I would absolutely love it if more people joined me on the bandwagon. Pressure works. 2242
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026Excellent! Artist friends, if you're interested in helping out the author of a fun trans mystery/fantasy novel who's looking to ditch the AI plague, now's a great time to reach out ⬇️⬇️ I want to emphasize - AI covers do not need to be a permanent stain. I am 100% in support of ditching them. 45120
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026Especially since the second novel in the series is being serialized. I assume there are new eyeballs on the project. 100
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026That sucks, I'm sorry to hear about it. That said, I'm only posting cause I genuinely liked the book and can't review it at the present moment. I'll probably still write the review if the cover changes, and then Emily would get the positive publicity of changing an AI cover. It's an invitation. 110
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026I mean it's not really about intention. I'm more than open to re-evaluating if the cover is changed. But if I see an AI cover, I'm gonna call it like I see it. 100
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026In defense of schlock, I quite like reading bad art. It's the substratum of creativity. And a lot of the authors aren't trying to be professionals, just to express themselves, and I'll always support that. What I hate about AI authors is the cynicism of ruining the artform to make a cheap buck. 0160
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026I would not conflate volume of schlock with overall % of schlock authors. I also think that it takes a certain willingness to wade through the shit to find the hidden gems on the selfpub market. 2183
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026For what it's worth, I think the 80/20 rule goes both ways here. Yes, 80% of the bulk is crap. But I also think it's true that only 20% of the authors are producing 80% of the schlock. Producing good art takes time, and inevitably those books will get drowned out. 1325

Reposted by The Transfeminine ReviewSaoirse “Ghost of a Victorian Child” Stone 🏳️⚧️ @saoirsestone.bsky.social · 01/07/2026I chose to have a totally non-descript cover rather than one created from the theft of other people’s work. It’s probably costing me sales, but principles don’t just matter when it’s convenient. Plus, if you’re willing to use AI for a cover, how can a reader know you won’t use it in your writing. 2304
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 01/07/2026Anyway let this serve as a PSA that using AI art is a great way to deny your book acclaim and critical exposure for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Cause I'm not reviewing this shit. 08112

Reposted by The Transfeminine ReviewBenjanun Sriduangkaew @ Persephone Effect out now @benjanun.bsky.social · 13/06/2026There are, AFAIK, much fewer trade pub releases by transfem authors this year than in the previous. Judging by deal announcements this year, 2027 is going to be even worse than 2026, which is worse than 2025. All the more important to support selfpub transfem authors tbqh. 323381
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 12/06/2026One of my critiques of this book is that it could use more trans-atlantic perspective - but it's hard to fit that into a 300 page mass-market paperback. I understand why it's not here. What's really missing is a big 500-1000 page tome on the global topic. But that may take decades. 140
The Transfeminine Review @thetransfemininereview.com · 12/06/2026There are smaller histories, but not a survey like this. It's possible that something is out there, but to the best of my knowledge I'm not aware of it. 130
