Awdah was also a guide to foreigners, many of them Jewish, who come to learn about the occupation. I met him in 2018 and, as others have said, he had the grace & welcoming nature totally beyond what he had suffered & was facing. Today a settler murders him & then the military invades his village.

i don’t think we should be funding the “defense” of a belligerent terror state doing a live-streamed holocaust of children. especially when (as we saw w iran) military retaliation that penetrates israeli AA systems (that we fund) is the only thing that causes deterrence.

I think the general incoherence about the situation in Sweida is because ppl have a strong desire for a good guy/bad guy dynamic nd that very much doesnt exist. When this is applied not to political entities but to sects, it becomes an excercise in politics of extermination.

What cannot be lost in all this is that students have simply been demanding their tuition not go towards funding an illegal occupation, nor a genocide. Everything that has come after is a product of the powers that be vehemently refusing to honor that entirely reasonable ask.
