Erickson throws a fair bit of shade in Hypnotic Realities, this included, but I love this idea: When someone is fixated externally, there are all these internal processes that are ready to be accessed, changing the focal point from outer to inner as part of the induction.

When I really want to get back to brass tacks with #hypno, it's always pacing and leading. Induction? Suggestion? It's all just about affirming where someone is and nudging them where you want them to go. Sometimes it's as simple as pointing out that their breathing has already changed.
