Doing the same thing over and over in most games feels monotonous to me. But yes, in racing games you are doing that ANYWAY. This is why I love Balatro, yes its rougelike... but its just poker hands, it feels natural to replay levels or hands or whatever.

Exclusives matter. They've always mattered. The change is the realization that the costs to make a game generally can't be recuperated at the rate these companies want/need without addressing a larger portion of the market. Easier to sell 2 million copies to 150 million people than to 50 million.
