IS POETRY THE ANSWER TO BRITAIN’S BAT PROBLEM? Thank you to @thepoetrykiosk.bsky.social for including a discussion of Speculative Frequencies in the very first issue of The Visual Poetry Times!
A hand holding a copy of the visual poetry times folded in half, with a second copy held behind. This publication resembles a traditional newspaper. The cover however has a large visual poem printed across the centre, wherein the word ‘prison’ is repeated in handwriting across a square shaped grid A open page of the newspaper with the article at the bottom left hand corner - titled ‘Is Poetry the Answer to Britain’s Bat Problem?’ Zoomed in image of text … themselves. My role is to listen closely, become attuned to the night sky, and write through these fleeting and magical encounters.
When the sound of a bat is picked up on my monitor, it is a privilege like no other - I feel like I am being invited into a new world."
Since publishing Speculative Frequencies…

Saw about half of "After Words: Visual and Experimental Poetry in Little Magazines and Small Presses, 1960-2025," curated by Granary Books's Steve Clay and M.C. Kinniburgh, at The Grolier Club. This translation of Queneau, _One Hundred Million Million Poems_ (Kickshaws, 1983) was in the first case.
Translation of Raymond Queneau's book of sonnets in which lines appear on strips of paper that can be combined in one hundred million million combinations. Book is displayed with one sonnet composed on the right hand page and multiple strips sticking up up from the gutter.
