There really is no moral justification whatsoever for mined blood diamonds now, on an environmental or humanitarian level. As technology advances, industries die. There would be nothing sad about De Beers or Rio Tinto doing a Blockbuster. www.ft.com/content/2a8d...

I thought this mandatory 2 pits would make it more exciting but somehow it's worse haha. I mean personally I'd just scrap Monaco, but if not, can the solution to avoid a situation like last year just be that teams can't pit during a red flag? #MonacoGP

I find the difference between X and Bluesky on the topic of AI truly staggering. On X, I can't scroll for a minute without seeing someone talking about AI. The lastest models, comparisons, job losses, benefits, covering all companies from Google, OpenAI or Anthropic. On Bluesky? Crickets.

I remember when any reusable water bottle was the 'Eco-friendly' option. I am massively pro-environment, but where does the purity end? I fear a constant push for eco-perfection puts swathes of people off doing anything altogether.

BREAKING: US-UK trade pact will leave the 10% US tariff in place - CNN These tarriffs are not a bargaining tool, they are an ideology. Trump genuinely believes a trade deficit with another country is always a bad thing. At some point in the coming months Americans will face the music on this.

FPTP is simply not designed for a 5 party system. A general election with this split would be absolute chaos. That said, I think it's easy to blow these results out of proportion. 2029 is a long way away and I think the Labour Gov will last until then (Starmer perhaps not). #LocalElections

Latest Sport England physical activty data. Fantastic that the number of active adults has increased by 1.6%, but IMO the number we should really be focussing on is inactivity, which has remained fairly constant at 1 in 4 adults for nearly 10 years. Inactivity has huge societal costs.

Someone on Threads noticed you can type any random sentence into Google, then add “meaning” afterwards, and you’ll get an AI explanation of a famous idiom or phrase you just made up. Here is mine

• Al Overview
The idiom "you can't lick a badger twice" means you can't trick or deceive someone a second time after they've been tricked once. It's a warning that if someone has already been deceived, they are unlikely to fall for the same trick again.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
• Licking: "Licking" in this context means to trick or deceive someone.
• Badger: The badger is a wild animal, and the phrase likely originates from the historical sport of badger baiting where dogs were used to harass

If you don't like weather-thrashed doors in old walls, we might find a way to get on, in some superficial sense, but we will never truly see eye-to-eye.
A weatherbeaten door in an old wall, surrounding by beautiful flowers. An extremely fine old door in a wall, possibly leading to Narnia, or somewhere with better weather than that.An old door in a small wall in Norwich which isn't as good as the other ones in this post but which I still felt was notable.A very grand old door in an old wall on Dartmoor, behind which I am sure a wizard must live.
