WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK IS THIS. This AI slop account just *made up* an incorrect picture of this game's box and contents. It took me 5 seconds to find a good publicity photo of the actual game. Humans work really hard to make games. Have some fucking respect. (Tideward by @connievdc.bsky.social)

An explanation on why Big Walk isn't available on Xbox. bigwalk.game/xbox
Regarding Xbox

In June 2026 we announced that the release of Big Walk would be limited to computers, Switch 2 and PS5. Since then, we have received many messages and comments, asking about a future Xbox release. We would like to address those questions here:

We have made the decision not to release Big Walk on Xbox, in accordance with the Palestinian-led BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement’s call to boycott Microsoft, and their designation of Microsoft Games (and Xbox) as a priority boycott target. If you need help understanding our motives, we would recommend reading about why Microsoft is a BDS priority target, the successes this kind of pressure has already had on Microsoft, and especially, watching this great introductory piece by People Make Games.

It has always been our intention for Big Walk to be played by groups of friends, and we know that keeping the game off Xbox runs counter to those intentions. This decision means that some people will miss out on playing Big Walk with their friends, and we understand the disappointment we’re causing. We are disappointed too.

We would love for people to be able to play the game on Xbox, but not until Microsoft and/or Xbox have been removed as BDS boycott targets.

We’ve made this decision with the belief that meaningful change can be made in the world, that coordinated collective action can confront even the most powerful interests, and that one day, Palestine will be free.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
House House

You may already be aware, but @letibus.bsky.social also makes some great puzzle books: letibus.itch.io I have the physical versions of them all as well, but there are also PDFs. And there's also tenchaya.booth.pm/items/8737890, which I also have a physical copy of and am still going through. 😄

Nice! Yeah, it's been on my list for a while, but with the recent Switch release, it's bumped up quite a bit. Hoping to dig into it soon.

The now-standard pipeline of "Thinky Games features a fun new puzzle/game" -> "I purchase said item and more, if possible" has produced yet another package at my doorstep. Some fun new puzzles to work through from Juana/Raviol (raviol.itch.io). The upcoming weekend has been sorted!
Some small puzzle books, titled: "Blobs", "Jelly", and "Summoning Demons", along with a sticker sheet with colorful Jelly characters, and a note that says: "Dear Christopher, Thank you for supporting indie puzzles. I hope you enjoy Blobs!" with a hand-written Blobs puzzle.

If you are (*checks notes* Hmm.) Epic Games, and you're making a (*double-checks* Really‽) game launcher (‽), and you feel the need to lead off with "programming is hard"… I think people should be rethinking *a lot* about this company. e.g. Do they have your credit card info? I'd suggest they not.

If you can gather a friend or two, or a family member, or a partner: I highly recommend you try Big Walk together. It is by far the most "hang out and enjoy each other's company" experience I've ever had, and it's so brilliantly crafted. I haven't stopped thinking about this game since I played it.

Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

Yesterday, I played Sleeping Gods: Primeval Peril. I've had the original game and Distant Skies sitting on the shelf for years. I figured we might as well get things started with their smaller sibling. And in *not small* news, another big box has arrived on my doorstep. Uh oh. 😄 #boardGames
Sleeping Gods: Primeval Peril. A spiral-bound book is open to show a map and some enemy creatures. Each player has some character boards in front of them with tokens on top to track various statuses. There’s a central board showing their shared boat and its status. Food Chain Magnate: Deluxe Edition. The cover art shows various restaurant and diner employees in a ‘50s style. It says “100% Dice Free! Served with your choice of strategies!” and “Ketchup Mechanism Expansion Set Included”.

I don't think whoever designed this customer support page realized the absolute tragic poetry they were writing about the world at large.

I'll admit ignorance on the standard editorial practice, but if you use quote marks, I think it's expected that you cite who said them. Otherwise, I'm going to assume it was just you, in which case you didn't need the quotes, and now I'm suspicious. Suspicious of you, Santa.

Don't use genAI chatbots. If you do—please don't—do not buy into the marketing that you're on a direct, secure line to a magical assistant. Do not tell it anything you wouldn't say in public. This is still just the internet. There's no magic. You need to be careful with your personal information.
030 3
Christopher Yudichak @theoddlinguist.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
But when these things are presented as "magic", it becomes much easier to not think about how they work. Chatbots aren't actually the humanoids they present themselves as. They're software controlled by for-profit companies. Assume those companies can and will misuse information you give them.

This is one of those times when one (read: I) might forget others don't have the context they have. I work in an ML-adjacent field. And in my mind: Yeah, of course an LLM is going to need labeling and annotation for training. So it's very likely someone's going to be seeing inputs.

Just as Ludwig returns for a second series, I found out that the soundtrack was released on #vinyl for last year's Record Store Day. Naturally, I had to pick up a copy. The track list on the back is a lovely touch. The insert also features an acrostic puzzle.
Ludwig soundtrack on vinyl. The art shows Ludwig and Lucy standing in a room decorated as a crossword. The hype sticker says it’s a limited Record Store Day exclusive, and this is copy 198 of 500. The reverse side of the jacket shows the track list. They’re arranged as though they were in a crossword. The A-side tracks are printed as Across answers, and the B-side tracks are the Downs.
