Reed cited that hypothetical as an example of why crypto is bad, but I don’t get why. To me it sounds like that’s crypto doing exactly what it was designed for. I just don’t know where to begin to try and understand why this is all problematic, maybe a kind soul out there can help me learn?

Something Reed said resonated with me and has me trying to understand the why of it all, to paraphrase, a crypto bro can take $5M in crypto and get on a plane, and go anywhere any nobody is the wiser. That really seems like the point of digital cash, an anonymous store of value with no strings.

Listening to discussions about the evolution of Santa on @yourewrongabout.bsky.social made me think on the parallels between Santa as a tool for indoctrination of blatant consumerism and the way religious indoctrination was used for centuries to create and prop up institutions of unfair power.
