I love that audiobooks are growing more common around here! Maybe we can get some anthologies done, too. I could finally get through my backlog of Fang

I hate choice paralysis. Buying a new laptop is probably in my best interest, but the "what I need" + "what I might need" +/- "what would be nice to have" / (cost/value)... Looked at the Neo noticed Air, but higher RAM/storage is locked behind $$$ CPU upgrade. Don't want Windows...

I have ADHD (inattentive) according to clinical diagnostics. But you know how ADHD comes with that issue with object permanence issues? Forgetting people exist? Yeah. I have the opposite with the bonus factor of brain fog interfering with initiating and continuing conversation.

I put on Akira Yamaoka's Hometown, the most Silent Hill song to Silent Hill. @themattfox.bsky.social thought it was David Bowie. So then I put on I'm Deranged (Lost Highway edition).

Hey everyone, I am thinking about the potential of using a PC HMD for writing (and research) to address accessibility issues I have with PC based work due to chronic pain, fatigue, and autonomic dysfunction. Being able to shift a lot without needing to contort for screen and keyboard is important.

How'd y'all learn to breathe? Sit? Stand? Walk? While they're on a list of things we generally are required to do to live, that doesn't mean we do them all the same or even correctly. They involve nerves, muscles, proper signals...

You can't automate creativity, can't call it "democratizing". Democratizing creativity and art is through funding, subsidizing, giving people the time from capitalism grind to pursue a waste of profit. Or through free access to art (what industry calls piracy).

Average video games should be 8-10 hours of unique content for 50 bucks. One of my favorite things about Dark Souls is how game time shakes out from first playthrough, to NG, and NG+; it's also endless without being infinite like rogue-l's and seasonal arpgs.

Been hecking hacking my lungs out so bad my jaw aches and I have to ice my left shoulder blade and ribs. These aren't just chronic problem spots for me, but are noted subluxation zones for connective tissue disorders. Almost had me asking for a day or two of codeine.

I've been doing convention panels relatively regularly since like 2012 or 2013, starting at Otakon, Anime Boston, A-kon... Then exclusively furry writing panels. While I am certainly qualified to speak on writing, these days it feels a little weird as I am not writing in the field so much.

Intrusive thought: Playing Silent Hill 2 Remake and Deltarune (chp 4)... Now I am not saying I want to see Toby Fox make Silent Hill, but Toby Fox's attention to gameplay-plot minutiae for narrative clues and hidden narrative paths and outcomes in a game in the style of Silent Hill might be killer.

When people bitch and moan about isekai, including me, we need to really specify the portal fantasy subgenre naroukei, as in the style of portal fantasy popularized on a Japanese web fiction site responsible for the current flood of plots with OP main characters fleeing inequality and capitalism.

The unfortunate truth: without extreme luck or networking, I'm likely unlikely to find stable employment; self-employment is the most likely, but that requires time and attention I don't have at my present degree phase.

I got a B/B+ in a 200 level Russian literature in translation course. I only mostly Crime and Punishment, the Defense, and not even half of Anna K. My final paper was even on Anna K. And that's with severe undiagnosed neurological issues. That's not the only time either.

I don't often think about the Holy Roman Empire... Unless I am recalling my grandfather's joke that it wasn't holy, wasn't Roman, and wasn't an empire. I often think about how we identify and name things, especially medical conditions.

While we were on our vacation from 4/30-5/28, our eldest fur baby spent the last ten days of it in ICU. After showing signs of improvement we took him home. Things seemed to be as good as they could for a medicated, diabetic 16 y/o. He was masking; gave us one week. Let him go this past Saturday.

This is a photo of our cat Reggie, a partial Russian blue/grey tuxedo domestic short hair, laying on a red blanket on the floor.

We were just in Tokyo. Tokyo has a problem with trash (too much trash, too many people, too few bins...). They do not have a problem with free open and accessible facilities. Many parks and shrines had multiple bathrooms visible from one location. Prohibition incites/invites retaliation.
