Avoiding Asche’s gaze, he took the offered wrist and sank his teeth. The blood tasted of homecoming. It washed away all sensations, all thoughts. Inebriation took their place, unexpectedly strong, perhaps because two months had past since their last Binding.
Asche intoned the oath so quietly, it was hardly audible. Yet, Vindt felt what he had on their very first Binding: each word a nail the Singer drove into his mind, a hook he pushed into his soul.
Only now, the hook also sank into his heart.
“With my blood, I bind you. I bind your body and your soul. My blood will fulfill your destiny. You will be my shield and my sword. You will be my voice. You will depend on me as I will depend on you. You will defend my life with yours, and I will do the same for you. This Bond is sacred. It shall only be broken by death.”
