Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 2hI'm watching all these videos from this guy about worldbuilding and how one decision influences everything downstream of it and thinking about how in some ways it's similar to establishing social policy. There are problems and you have to think about solutions and what's needed for them. 000

Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 5hSounds about right lmao. They're very fun and never get canceled halfway through the story. 000
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 14hideally, yes, but right now we're a very long way from having any provision to take over care duties for every patient who needs it, so in the meantime it still needs to be taken into account as a barrier to care. 100
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 14hThere is actually a Dressmaker mod for a Ming dynasty inspired Mamian skirt but it's the only mod that didn't load into the game properly because a file is either missing or duplicated and it turns out it's made with AI so, lol. 000
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 15hThe prince is completely incompetent at asking the main character to marry him but to be fair she's stubbornly ignoring every attempt that veers even close to being transparent. 000
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 15hIn the final ep of this c-drama they have innovated trying clothes on without having to pay for them, custom alterations on pre-made clothes, and paying in installments if you can't afford to pay upfront. 000

Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 15hat least there's generally fairly decent information available on water tables and earthquake risks these days! (and yet, they still build subdivisions in flood-prone areas.... whyyyyyyy) 000
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 15hI've been told this is one of the few cities in the world that has cheap houses on the beach and expensive houses by the airport. I'm in Phillipstown and even here the water table is uncomfortably close to the surface, though not nearly as bad as my parents place by the river. 110
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 15hI only came back because it's where all my family is and we looked pretty carefully at risk maps to find a compromise on location lol. I would absolutely not live anywhere around Brighton, it's absurd. 200
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 15hIt might be because the Dressmaker mod scene is largely fabric patterns and therefore easy to generate or this is just true of modding in general now but from what I'm seeing it's VERY anti-AI. If you don't specify something's handmade or AI-free you *will* get asked and nexusmods has filters for it 000
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 15hThe main character and her sister were forced off a cliff again. They were both found alive but her sister died after a big emotional moment talking. But, when they jumped off her sister was already stabbed in the stomach and bleeding from the mouth, so I'm calling pre-existing condition. 100
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 17hI've only got a couple episodes of Ni Chang left and I think when it's done I'll pause to catch up on Western tv. Netflix emailed that they've put two more seasons of Brokenwood up, and there's a new season of Silo plus Ted Lasso. 000
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 18hI do remember summer holidays in Queenstown when I was a slightly older kid when it would still be daylight at like 10pm and I'd be resentfully lying in bed being tired but also wanting to be up lol 010
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 18hI saw a very similar conversation about age and physical jobs in relation to AI adoption. there's a lot of push for people to move to jobs that AI can't automate... so we're even moreso creating a massive underclass of people who are forced to work until they can't anymore with no support afterwards 020

Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 21hwith proper funding they'd be less stretched, of course. I don't think we have the population density to support specialised cancer centres in every city, but we could do a lot more to recognise the value of patients not having to travel too far. 120

Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 06/10/2026I will have to keep looking for the curtain rail fittings though and worst case pay the adhd tax. in the meantime I'll just retreat to my bedroom in the late afternoon/evening to escape the sun. last year it wasn't as bad because there were trees along the neighbours' driveway. 000

Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 06/10/2026yeah, exactly. books do tend to get longer through a series a lot of the time, which is probably more because they get more complex and need more detail but it does also show that people will commit to longer books from an author once they're more invested. 110
Chris Miller @thelittlepakeha.net · 06/10/2026from memory I feel like The Stand is about 800 pages and *no one* is picking that as their first Stephen King book. that's a book you read when you already like an author a lot. 110
