So did anyone else notice that GW snuck a couple of actual Armageddon Steel Legion models into the Adepticon preview stream? (Upper right hand corner of image below, three guardsmen)

A screencap of a slide from the Games Workshop Adepticon preview stream, featuring a bold "LEADERS ALWAYS LEAD" caption on the left side, and a battlefield scene of Imperial Guardsmen fighting against Chaos Marines on a set of raised industrial walkways above a foggy battlefield, with an Imperial Guard fighting vehicle facing off against a Helbrute on the field below. A trio of Imperial Guard footsoldiers in the upper right corner of the image seem to be wearing Armageddon Steel Legion styled uniforms and are equipped with weaponry of similar origin.

Apparently GW can't tell their black armoured legions apart. Based on the reference pics, looks like the "Armour" recipes for the Iron Hands and Raven Guard got switched. www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articl... Oops.

Getting up in the morning is gonna burn... but all the subassemblies are pretty much done at least.

A mostly assembled but as of yet unpainted Warhammer Horus Heresy Thanatar-Cavas battle automaton, standing in a menacing, slightly forward leaning pose to indicate aiming the plasma bombard on its shoulder. Some armour plates are off as I've not fully glued it together so that I can paint some of the trickier to reach areas as subassemblies. It's currently being held together by blu-tac and strong wishing.

It's good knight from me. (Yes, I did watch the Doctor Who season ender, why do you ask?)

An assembled but not yet painted Questoris Knight Magaera from Games Workshop's Legions Imperialis. It is a hulking humanoid-shaped mecha with a cyclops-eyed head, clad in thick armour and armed with a massive claw on one arm and a huge lightning cannon on the other. To give an idea of the size of the miniature, the backdrop to it is the palm of my hand.

The one kind of crypto I can get behind; a pair of necron cryptothralls.

A pair of Necron Cryptothralls from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000. Hunched robotic humanoid cyclones with scythe like hands, they are painted in the ancient brassy colour of the Szarehkian Dynasty, with steely joints and scythes and with glowing yellow-green accents, and marching across a cracked blackened base with green energy visible through cracks in the ground around their feet.

So #WarhammerCommunity posted an article celebrating the history of Land Raiders, and I figured that sharing these venerable pre-millenial efforts of mine would be appropriate. A 1st gen Land Raider and Predator from my second homebrew chapter, and an Epic scale Emperor's Children one.

Classic first generation Warhammer 40,000 tanks, a Predator on the left and a Land Raider on the right, painted in an orangey reddish colour with yellow camo stripes line with black in the heraldry of an old homebrew chapter of mine.

A slightly dusty classic Land Raider from the Space Marine/Epic 40,000 "epic scale" games.l by Games Workshop. This one is painted purple with gold side panels and bears an attempt at a hand painted Emperor's Children chapter icon on the door, as part of a larger Epic Scale army of Emperor's Children marines I painted back in the day.

Right then, just need the base done and any egregious goofs i spot and done. Like how this Iron Hands terminator captain from the Leviathan job is working out.

A Space Marine Terminator Captain, from the Leviathan boxed set by Games Workshop for their Warhammer 40,000 game. His armor is the steely black of the Iron Hands chapter, with highlights in bright steel, brass, gold, white and red. In one hand he holds an ornate power sword arcing with bolts of blueish energy, and in the other he holds a massive double barreled storm bolter with a white casing. His head is half covered in an iron plate, and the opposite eye has been replaced with a glowing red bionic eyepiece.

Applying transfers is annoying. More progress on my Iron Hands terminator captain.

Rear view of a Games Workshop Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Captain in Terminator Armour (Leviathan boxed set version) showing off his cloak and the transfer sheet detailing. Work in progress.

Pulling a stalled project off the bench and started working on it again. The perils of watching a live stream battle report for one of the factions I have in progress.

A Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Captain in Terminator armour from the Leviathan boxed set by Games Workshop. A massively armored warrior in primarily black armour, with much heraldic detailing in silver, gold, brass, red, white, grey stone and bone colors. He weilds a massive double barreled storm bolter gun in one hand and a huge, heavily ornamented sword crackling with arcs of energy in the other. He's still a work in progress, with some painting and detailing left to be done, as well as the painting of the elaborate scenic base he stands on.

Coming in at the 11th hour, but some stuff I've been working on for the #WarhammerChallenge (The rumors of my devolving into chaos spawn are much exaggerated)

A mostly painted Grombrindal miniature from Games Workshop, an axe wielding legendary dwarf with flowing white hair and beard.

A fully painted but still needing to be based Canis Rex model from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000. A gigantic Knight Questoris mech suit with a crushing hand, a massive laser weapon for the other arm, and painted in silver, gold, red and white heraldry with white wolf head and broken chains iconography.

Oh hey, I found a thing when I was going through my storage. Apparently once upon a time I made the grade (okay, the BRONZE grade, but still...) It's OLD street cred, but I'm happy to have earned it.

A small bronze coloured statue of a demon with crossed arms, one hand holding a paintbrush. It stands on a small wood plinth with a brass plate that reads "Golden Demon Awards 1991"

The underside of the plinth, where a small affixed sticker reads "Eldar Dreadn. John Z. Third P. Congrats!"

Johnny Zed @thejohnnyzed.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

So I hear Eldar are back in vogue again... do these count?

A plastic storage box lined with foam trays holding a large number of classic metal Warhammer.40,000 space elf corsair, done in the blue and yellow colors and bearing the banner iconography of the Eldritch Raiders.

Because @matarakan.vshojo.com asked me to reshare it from the Twitch stream where she reacted to it, here are the images I submitted that she reacted to. Happy stream anniversary! (And apologies for any roughness in the paint job, I was under a lot of time pressure, will touch it up later)

A Games Workshop Warhammer 40,000 Adeptus Mechanicus Kastelan robot with power fist, phosphor blaster and heavy phosphor blaster armament. It is converted to have ear-like antennae on its head and small grasping manipulators extended from below its chest plate. It is white with purple and brass accents, and stands on a base of cracked red Martian earth. The faceplate is done to resemble the face of the "momo" mascots of Twitch streamer Matara Kan from Vshojo.

A group of Warhammer 40,000 Adeptus Mechanicus units, including a Techpriest, Cybernetica Datasmith, eight Kastelan robots, two Armiger Warglaives (in the red, black and white of House Taranis). The rest of the models are done in the red of Forgeworld Mars, except for a single Kastelan done in white with purple and brass accents and a matching white and purple "momo", the mascot of Twitch vtuber Matara Kan of Vshojo in celebration of her stream's one year anniversary.

Periodically, I'll do a big splurge on my hobby purchases (usually to celebrate some kind of milestone, in this case my work contract being renewed). Woo? Big thanks to Sunward Hobbies for the supply drop, love those folks! (Link below as they're not on Bluesky that I'm aware) www.sunwardhobbies.ca

A shipping box full of hobby goodies, including Warhammer: Darktide (the miniatures game version), a Kroot Lone Spear kit, the Dark Angels and Chaos Space Marines 10th edition codexes (because I'm stupidly a completist), two hobby clamps, and the recent Sisters of Battle Army of Faith army starter box. Also contains a "Thank you" card from Sunward Hobbies, the Toronto, Canada based hobby store I got it all from.

A horde of Iz, small creatures that are mostly a flattened globular body with no feature other that a large, toothy mouth, to which are connected thin, gangly arms to either side, and a stalklike trunk below leading to large flat feet. From the comic book/cartoon The Maxx.

Needed to take a walk tonight, and I'm glad I did. I really do love the city waterfront at night sometimes.

A moonlight view across the water of a point of land sticking out from a wooded area into Lake Ontario, taken from a secluded rock beach cove just west of Woodbine Beach, Toronto.

A nighttime view across the water of distant downtown Toronto, taken from a spit of land just west of Woodbine Beach, Toronto.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, I think it's going to be a tough ask to find ways of telling interesting stories here that aren't just weird silliness. On the other hand, the casting is about as good as you could ask.

This is a really great novella! If your tastes in fantasy were heavily influenced by things like Labyrinth and Legend back in the day, this is what a more mature, developed take on what an expedition into a dangerous-fae-world-next-door story looks like. And for that price? Treat yourself.

And now I have to figure out a base for the cat.

Two miniatures, one an orange-skinned blonde tiefling wearing green capri pants, an off-white blouse, a black corset and a blue sash from which hangs a leather pouch. She wields a frying pan, and stands on a mossy cobblestone base from which rise mushrooms with white polka dotted red caps.
Beside her is a very large Maine Coon cat in tortie fur colours. Slung on its back are a blue basket (full of herbs and potions), a small blue pouch with an outside pocket, and a few loose potion bottles tied to the packs.
