it’s come to my attention that my tumblr post has been crossposted to bluesky, so I’m posting it on my account here #AntiAI #GenAI

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

I have gotten like 3 paragraphs of writing done tops since being out of work… But I did discover that you can make a kickass relish out of pickled cherry peppers, fresh cilantro, red onion, garlic, salt, and Szechuan pepper. Storing some extra in the fridge in the pickle brine to see how it keeps.

So last week I had to resign the job that had been consuming my whole life for health reasons. I have a lot of mixed feelings right now, and need to try to figure out how to stay afloat, but hopefully I can get back to writing.

So I had to go on medical leave for being sick nonstop, got forced back in because my insurance was revoked for being on medical leave, and now I need to take time off of work to fight with them about a claim they denied saying the insurance was cancelled before the cancel date. Fuck United Health

I think Uber figured out where I work. Suddenly the charge to go there jumped up over 50% from last week… Bonus points, the driver was a corpo bootlicker who said "I hope you don't actually believe that" when I lamented the creeping trend of surveillance pricing.
