Choose your fighter. @tomsuozzi.bsky.social says he agrees with Trump, and signals that he simply wants to bomb Iran with a bit more decorum and ideally not for too long. I believe it is foolish to start another forever war with preemptive strikes. We already made that mistake once.

Today’s senseless, unjustified attack on Iran makes everyone in the world less safe.

This military action is a mistake, and Congress must take action. Pass the Khanna-Massie War Powers resolution.

Trump is not above the Constitution, and the U.S. and our allies are not above International law.

Bombs will not bring peace.

It is weird how those in power never ask how we will pay for endless cycles of destruction and death, but ensuring people have the basic necessities for a dignified life here in the U.S. is “too expensive.”

The government must stop spending our tax dollars on war crimes and regime change.

Overnight, the United States and our ally Israel launched combat operations against the Iranian regime.

The President briefed the bipartisan House, Senate, and Intelligence leadership prior to the strikes as required, committed to briefing the full Congress in the coming days, and he must also seek congressional authorization consistent with the War Powers Act.

I agree with the President’s objectives that Iran can never be allowed to obtain nuclear capabilities. The President must now clearly define the national security objective and articulate his plan to avoid another costly, prolonged war in the Middle East.

What's been weird to learn is that other leaders of institutions act the same way. Some of them hoard and protect their influence like it's money because they, too, are rich. You don't get rich by giving your money away and (they seem to believe) you don't get powerful by exercising your power. But, in fact, that is often how power works: using power can help build power. At the very least, power holds no value unless it is exercised, which alone is a valid reason to exercise it. If you are powerful but never use your power, you are not powerful.
I'm talking here primarily about the huge, obvious loci of power — the centers of power that exist in part to serve as checks on other centers of power.
Congress vis-a-vis the presidency. The media relative to the government. Higher education in contrast to misinformation. But they often aren't serving as checks on what's unfolding, or are obviously and bizarrely using their power only sparingly, garden hoses aimed at protecting their own homes from the wildfire.
So it's left to individuals, who have stepped up where institutions have not.
