Think that is fair, I think RW is good but probably tapping into Vestys work (which is sensible).

🌹England Rugby Attack: Under Jones good to very good but began to decline 2021 - 2022. Improving again now under Borthwick. BUT Defence: Problems started in 2020 and increased to the point where Jones was sacked. Now as bad as it was in the days of Robinson/Ashton/Johnson. #SixNations

Rugby is trending away from multi-phase play and more towards starter plays. Against Italy, Wales had 17 line-outs from which to launch attacks. Here’s what happened at ever single one. 🧵 — 1. Italy disrupt, a few pick and goes, Wales kick

Not slow at all, this was asked last well as well, it's a fair question. So the Y axis is just needed for the visual, to spread the players across the caps...it isn't needed but can't find a way to hide it.

What I think we're seeing en large is an effort for Teams to develop their bench now ahead of 2027. Most teams will take a reduced strength side on tour this summer, Lions tour and a chance to rest key player said cycle. 9/9

Perhaps an indicator of the uptick from England yesterday was A: their experience and use off the bench B: the experience of the pack 364 caps vs 251 with 155 vs 112 coming off the bench. 8/

Obviously total caps aren't everything discretion is important. Inexperience of decision making is constantly flag but looking at the 2/8/9/10/15 spine of the team we see: Wales = 271 France = 220 Scotland = 202 Ireland = 199 Italy = 192 England = 113 7/

And Finally bench impact. We again see the potential impact of the Irish Bench, but interestingly Englands bench jumps from the least experienced to 2nd most experienced behind Ireland. 166 caps entering the fray with George and Daly. 6/

#AutumnNationsSeries kicking statistics 792 kicks in 18 games Most frequently used kick? Yes, that's right, the box-kick: 290 (37%) But there's one huge surprise, marking perhaps a possible shift in exit strategy. The @springboks.bsky.social haven't contributed much. #Georgia, however 1/

Ben Curry and Ben Earl have taken precisely zero line-outs between them this season for their clubs. Here's a piece on insert lifting, a tactic that is often totally missed by television coverage and might well be key to England's strategy this weekend. www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/...

The ‘impossible’ line-out move England can turn on against Ireland
One suspects Steve Borthwick’s side will have to be squeaky clean with this intricate tactic during Six Nations

Maro Itoje will be an upgrade as England captain, according to referees
Despite a mild-mannered persona, the Saracens lock has a reputation for playing risk and reward with officials

So head to head this is how the squads stack up for Round One of the 6Nations. Bigger and higher equals more caps, you can see the clusters of caps where teams maybe have many mid-tier cap experience. Here France vs Wales. 1/

Graeme Forbes @thedeadballarea.bsky.social · 31/01/2025
England are maybe running a hefty risk with such little experience, and will see a flood of caps leave the pitch to make way for inexperience (approx 233). Could be difficult to address that impact. Ford with over 90 caps isn't in there and would have made a big dent in the deficit. 5/

Graeme Forbes @thedeadballarea.bsky.social · 31/01/2025
Experience matters, and is something that can't be replicated, only aquired. If we're looking at the squads, the Ireland vs England jumps out. Ireland probably have it right around with half their squads caps coming from the bench to make that impact. 4/
120
Graeme Forbes @thedeadballarea.bsky.social · 31/01/2025
But Here we see the astounding, potential impact of Ireland bench, with 509 Caps set to enter the fray at some point. Italy have the next best bench (in terms of experience) with 155 caps, Wales - 141, Scotland - 135, France - 119. England have less than 100 caps on the bench with only 81. 3/
120
Graeme Forbes @thedeadballarea.bsky.social · 31/01/2025
But Scotland will field the most experienced Starting 15 with 707 caps in the starting line up. Ireland are 2nd with 681, Italy 584, England - 568, Wales - 487 and France - 425. 2/
