Hey everyone, our building failed to notify us about some emergency DC Water work in the area for today, so we're closing early. We'll return tomorrow 10/8/26 when service is restored.

Just wait until more of the insurance companies wake up. In this country, we had to search for over a month for a business policy that was willing to take on a location underneath residential space with li-ion batteries inside.

Yup, there's not a huge number of shops in this city or elsewhere that repair small household electronics either as they're often considered "disposable". We like to consider our e-bikes more like heavy-duty appliances, which they are.

Tuna, you say...
Entirely Too Much Tuna is on a bike shop's kitchen counter next to morning coffee essentials.

Consumers know they have choice, and our customers highly value their time. Reducing our overall repair calendar to known quantities is better for our customers and our staff. We're very close to refusing service on certain e-bikes unless we already know the customer.

Correct. When we're booked out two to three weeks in the high season and have people "just calling around" for appointments, the supply of customers is not something we're concerned about. By being booked out, we're giving more valuable revenue to other shops. Being selective is a market decision.

Customers resist paying 1/3 the cost of these bikes when we expend time on research and communication with companies that have no incentive to provide support.

We tried for a time in the interest of serving the widest possible customer base, but found that certain electrical problems turned into multiple week sagas.

The point being in this article is that many of them are massive time-sinks that deplete a shop's most valuable resource in seeking resolutions to an unfixable problem, pushing reliable and consistent revenue off the books.

The west end of Pennsylvania Ave NW is about to undergo a big makeover. This is a project years in the making finally coming to life, set to be complete next summer. Thanks to @GoldenTriDC for the site visit this week. The final road will feel a lot more tight knit and welcoming!

Banning bike lanes on the NHS would be a disaster for anyone who uses a bicycle (or might want to in the future). In DC alone, the NHS includes: 🔹 14th St NW 🔹 15th St NW 🔹 Pennsylvania Ave 🔹 Connecticut Ave NHS map: hepgis-usdot.hub.arcgis.com/apps/7cd9b8f...

As always, Tern prioritized safety and stability. The HSD has a longer wheelbase, lower stepover height, and higher overall capacity of over 400 pounds. Bosch batteries and motors are UL certified, with the frame and rack capacities ISO certified.

The new HSD adds several Bosch security features, along with a lighter and more powerful motor. GPS tracking and post-theft protections can be controlled within the Bosch app.

Additionally, the TRP EASI derailleur is also electronically shifted, with available auto-shift mode. This system is optimized for high torque shifts under load and is directly powered by the Bosch battery.

This biggest changes in the lineup come with the addition of e-shifting. The 3x3 (say 3 by 3) 9 speed hub is a workhorse hub paired with the familiar Gates belt drive. This hub is electronically shifted and provides wide steps between gears, making it a perfect pairing with e-assist.

WABA WON
More to come; but the 15th Street Bike Lanes will stay for now!! Here's the conclusion of the 61 page decision ... THANK YOU for your support! Wanted you to hear it from us first ...

CONCLUSION

The Court finds the decision to proceed with the 15th Street Cycle Track Removal to be
arbitrary and capricious because the record does not reflect that the defendants examined the
relevant data and articulated a rational connection between the facts found and the choice made.
It further finds that the defendants’ invocation of the highway modernization categorical exclusion,
and their conclusion that the Removal Project would not have a significant impact on public health
and safety, to be arbitrary and capricious as well. Therefore, the decision to proceed with the
Removal Project as described in the March 31, 2026 NPS Decision Memorandum and the March
31, 2026 NPS and FHWA Categorial Exclusion documents, as well as in the February 23 NPS and
February 27 FHWA Categorical Exclusion documents to the extent they were not rescinded or
nullified but only elaborated upon on March 31, is hereby VACATED and REMANDED to the
National Park Service and the Federal Highway Administration. This means, as counsel for the
defendants acknowledged on the record at the hearing, that the decision is null and void, and the
Removal Project may not and will not proceed on April 23, 2026. Given the ruling in plaintiff’s
favor on the merits, plaintiff’s request for interim relief is denied as MOOT.
