As always, Tern prioritized safety and stability. The HSD has a longer wheelbase, lower stepover height, and higher overall capacity of over 400 pounds. Bosch batteries and motors are UL certified, with the frame and rack capacities ISO certified.

The new HSD adds several Bosch security features, along with a lighter and more powerful motor. GPS tracking and post-theft protections can be controlled within the Bosch app.

Additionally, the TRP EASI derailleur is also electronically shifted, with available auto-shift mode. This system is optimized for high torque shifts under load and is directly powered by the Bosch battery.
A bright yellow bicycle frame's back half focused on the wheel and rear derailleur. The derailleur is electric and connected to the motor (not visible) with a power cable.

This biggest changes in the lineup come with the addition of e-shifting. The 3x3 (say 3 by 3) 9 speed hub is a workhorse hub paired with the familiar Gates belt drive. This hub is electronically shifted and provides wide steps between gears, making it a perfect pairing with e-assist.
Close in photo of the hub of an internally geared wheel showing the logo for the hub's manufacturer, 3x3.

Some of the 300+ people who showed up today to show support for one of the best pieces of bike infrastructure in DC. They shouted in megaphones, honked horns, rang bells, and called out from both front and rear seats of cargo bikes, with voices in all registers. This isn't over.
A group of people gather in front of blooming cherry blossom-laden trees. Most of them are wearing bike helmets and have bicycles with them. Charles Allen, the Ward 6 Washington DC Council Member addresses a crowd through a megaphone with the National Mall and a well-used bike lane in the background. Mark Sussman, organizer of Hill Family Biking, arrives on a silver bicycle, wearing a yellow Ride Marshal shirt. The Museum of African American History's building is in the background.

Those snowbanks aren't the only thing melting this week. Serious discounts on select remaining prior-year stock:
A Specialized Globe Haul LT on a neutral background with 15% off and "pre-season sale" festooned around it. Also noted is that the original proce is $3800, can carry 2 passengers and is a class 3 motor. A grey Gazelle Ultimate e-bike is displayed on a light violet background that is barely visible to the eye, but the graphics program swears is a color. 30% off and Pre-season sale banners are above it in orange and grey. Originally $3499 it comes with a Bosch motor and is available in one size, 53cm, which is somehow a large in the Netherlands. A red Sepcialized Como floats on the same light violet background while announcing 35% off and that the bike is internally geared with a belt drive. Originally $4250. Wow.

Winter Service Special: thedailyriderdc.com/winter-servi...
A red toolboard background with tools is overlaid by text and snow graphics. The text reads "Winter Service Special" 15% off all service parts when combined with a tune package. Sale ends 2/28/26.

A reminder that we're closed for the snow today. If you can manage to drag in your bike to us on Tuesday, we'll be offering the same snow special below.
Looking through a window on a snowy street with the DC Streetcar passing, a number of text blocks indicate that the snow means 15% off all parts when combined with a tune package. Also announces hours for Saturday and closed status for Sunday.

Tobias and Lindsay Funke discussing an open marriage and Lindsay asks "Did it ever work for these people?" to which Tobias answers "No. It never does. I mean these people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might. But......it might work for us."
Except in this version the first panel states "We should fund the stadium with public money"

And along with their all new GSD, Tern has also dropped some new accessories, including the Sun Shield and Rain Shield. Designed with portability in mind, these new accessories expand utility and comfort for passengers in all weather conditions.

The sun shield is supported from the Clubhouse bars and sits over the child shielding her from the sun, but providing ventilation. A bright yellow and black fabric weather cover sits at the rear of the cargo bike with a transparent side window showing a visible passenger. The cover has reflective silver details.

Our Tern riders are constantly on the move. Because of this, we think that the inclusion of an onboard USB-C charging port is going to be a big hit. Think of the additional lights and accessories that could be added, as well as device charging.

On two of the new models the addition of ABS, and a much larger brake disc, ensures safe, confident stopping in all conditions.

The new kickstand integrates the already popular extensions and adds a cover to protect the latch mechanism.
The new lockstand is shown in its down position in front of the rear wheel. It has integrated longer extensions from the base to provide stability. The locking mechanism is now covered with a protective cowl, preventing dirt and other contaminants from interfering with its operation. The kickstand is spring actuated and flips out of the way as the rider presses a button on the handlebar.

Tern listens to their customers, their dealers, and the mechanics that work on their bikes. So, while a seatpost and kickstand aren't the most exciting parts to talk about, they took feedback and made improvements. The seatpost has oversized thumb and finger tabs for easy opening and adjustment.
The GSD's seatpost features an extra long telescoping section which is easily opened with the larger thumb tabs integrated into the seat collars. This seatpost also has a suspension component.

Strongly suggesting that today is perfect for riding around, taking pictures or your new (or newly serviced bike) in front of interesting things the way customer Scott did with his vintage Schwinn recently.
