Love, love, love this interview. It’s interesting to note that (as far as I’m aware) in our neck of SWVA, the biggest damages were around Damascus, which is an agricultural area. We had some historical mining towns that felt the impacts but there wasn’t a clear increase in damage in extracted areas

It’s amazing the difference in coverage in the floods we experienced in southern Appalachia &the LA fires. Both suffered losing everything &there is a much higher death count from Helene, here Even when they talk about Helene, they only mention Florida. Why? Cuz Appalachia isn’t mostly rich ppl
