It's October, and since my favorite band of this century are sometimes known for their 'autumnal' sound, I'll share a song from @theclientele.bsky.social every day this month - growing darker as the days grow shorter. 10/1: Never Anyone But You (2009) theclientele.bandcamp.com/track/never-...

Great new book on @omnibuspress from the Clientele’s long suffering manager Andy Macleod which among many other things, details our first appearances in London. Captures the atmosphere of 1990s Camden beautifully and is also very funny, though probably far too respectful towards us.

Shortly after moving to docklands from Fleet, we decided to wear mod suits and get a brass quartet, and invite the melody maker down. How wrong it could have gone.

Paid a visit to my friends of @theclientele.bsky.social in North London, where they are recording a new album. The two songs I heard there were magnificent, worthy of what is the best band to have emerged from this country in the last two decades.

How is the Celia Paul? Wondering, for instance, how it compares factually and thematically with the Celia Paul article in NYT by R*chel C*usk

love this and love it when/if people transform our songs. Would even love it if AI did - the issue is the songs have been stolen to get someone else paid .

Maybe cos being robbed is no longer shocking in any way

We’re informed 135 Clientele songs have been scraped and used to train AI slop by Suno without our knowledge. So you can prompt engineer your own Clientele songs now, assuming you have no soul or any of the ethical faculties that make life worth living. Why do I find this quite funny?

Visit to the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in eastern Paris, favourite of Aragon and Breton. Sadly the way to the temple of the Sybil and her grotto were fenced off for repair, the state of the gypsum must have been better in the 1920s

Day 42 #FiveAlive A bit niche? IMHO, the Clientele are the best British band of the last 30 years. There are some who share that view and you should listen very carefully to what they have to say. Perhaps you will fall hopelessly in love with them like we did. Sublime playlist to follow soon.
