🗓️ #OTD in 1944 ⌚ 21:35 – 11 hours after leaving Gosport, X-20 is at position ‘AA’, just north of a German minefield, where it is due to ‘slip the tow’ from trawler Darthema. X-20 will head south through the minefield alone. #Postage #NavalHistory 🧵
Map showing X-20’s route across the English Channel. Between position 'AA' and position 'BB' the route goes directly south through an area marked as a minefield.

At Fort Wellington, Prescott, ONT, with Tom Vilardi of the 22nd. Foot. This was in 1989, during my first venture across The Pond.
A re-enactment event at Fort Prescott in Ontario in 1989. Two redcoat officers bearing the colours of the 22nd Regiment of Foot. In the background are some soldiers tents with visiting members of the public exploring the camp. In the far background is the St. Lawrence River with the American shore beyond.
