okay, okay, I fold for now. I need to get my glasses prescription updated before continuing with these black cat ears! held it up to the light and realized I could not tell what I'd done to it to be able to replicate it in the next row, let alone for the other ear but in reverse. #crochet

I heavily encourage switching to a looser stitch and size the hook up more than you think you should. Cotton yarn is very stiff.

All of the above will likely result in no call back for a second interview/not getting hired. you are there to sell them a fantasy (you love it here, you really want to work here more than anywhere else, they come first).

the fact you have food or non-water (in resealable bottle) with may indicate to that employer that A you don't need this job, or B you are underprepared, or, C you think your comfort is more important than the job (truthful but also sarcastic here).

to know it's culture. many prospective employers still expect people to walk through their office door in company appropriate clothes, and already knowing things like that you should come ready to start a shift (you've eaten and had something to drink already).

It speaks to time management skills. it isn't remotely fair, prospective employers will judge you for all the things. From the above circumstances they will likely infer that your time management skills are lacking because they (likely) have been working at the company long enough

#jobs #jobinterviews #thecoffeefight I see this notion is still causing arguments. So from an interviewers perspective, here's what may be gleaned from bringing a drink that is spillable to an interview, or eating your lunch while waiting in the lobby.

To clarify did you embroider a skateboard (needle and thread), carve it to look like embroidery, or is that painted detail alone? either way it's really cool.

Rebel Fire by Ann Sei Lin. As ever my thoughts are in the ALT. #bookreview #booksky

Cover for Ann Sei Lin's Rebel Fire. at the top it says "one flame can burn an empire". "Rebel Fire" is in large white letters that are breaking down into paper pieces. in the background is a lake in a crater. In the mid ground is the Shikigami Phoenix Suzaku. In the foreground, the protagonist, Kurara, stands on a rock facing Suzaku, holding a katana.

Review:
Kurara is a Shikigami and a crafter. Something that has never been seen before or since as far as anyone knows. Now that she knows this fundamental truth about herself, she will stop at nothing until she is able to free all Shikigami from the blood bonds to crafters that keep them captive.

Kurara is a complicated protagonist, who freely admits she has no idea what she is doing and only hopes she is making the right choices along the way. Rather than being a chosen one plotline, Rebel Fire is a tale of trying like hell to follow your own moral compass to do good.

This book was just as brilliant and fast-paced as the first one. I really enjoyed the deepening of the lore around Shikigami, and crafters. The introduction of celestial magic adds a new layer of complexity. The world building is just as rich as in the first book. Ann Sei Lin is a master at weaving complex fantasy worlds with a glimmer of reality to keep it grounded.

Okay, in all seriousness, the only and i mean ONLY reason I will judge a book by it's cover is if I know it's AI. make the cover yourself in Canva or similar. As long as you have an actual summary that you wrote on the back of your paperback/flyleaf of your hardback I will consider reading it.

we’ve been going more analog—having students hand write notes, teaching them HOW to take notes, sometimes even getting rid of computers ENTIRELY in the classroom We teach critical thinking and GD it if we are going to let tech rot stop us

If a woman did this at a minimum someone would snatch it away form her. later they would suggest she check her self in for observation or quit her job if she finds it too stressful. or just fire her. #politics

I am a Feminist: Claiming the F-word in Turbulent Times. Review in ALT. #bookreview #booksky

This book was a great starting primer on early waves of feminism. Ideal for youth and adolescents seeking to get started on their knowledge base. There is much more depth to be gleaned from further reading on the subject than can fit in this book.

Like when we were young my mom always asked what we wanted to eat, but if we didn't have it we had to either pick something that was or she would pick. once or twice to s top my younger sister's tantrum the phrase "I don't run a restaurant" was used or "that's not in the budget".

Involve them from the shopping stage. when making the list ask what they want to eat for the week. Then later on if it comes up that what they want isn't there you can remind them they helped pick what is and to choose something they have.
