I stopped watching after season 3 because I felt like the show was just constantly disrespecting its audience (elaboration below, spoilers for first three seasons). Sucks because "I stopped watching Umbrella Academy after season 3" puts me in the same group as the transphobes mad about Elliot Page.

I finally finished watching The Umbrella Academy. I guess I liked it overall, but I have one major complaint that dragged the entire thing down for me: the show is constantly throwing plot twists at you but then apparently getting cold feet and reversing them half the time. "Oh wow, the Handler got shot in the head! Oh wait, she's miraculously fine and doesn't have any brain damage to boot." "Oh no, Allison got her throat slashed! She's dead! Oh no, she actually miraculously survived, but her vocal cords were cut! She can't speak anymore! Oh wait no, she can miraculously speak perfectly once again." "Oh no, these characters were killed! Oh wait nevermind, Five went back in time and saved them." Like it just comes across as lazy-ass writing. You want the shock value of a plot twist but then can't be assed to write the consequences of said plot twist, so then poof, it's gone, never happened. And ultimately the twist just amounts to wasted time when it doesn't affect anything whatsoever. It got to the point where I stopped caring about what happened, because how do I even know whatever happens is even going to have any kind of lasting effect and isn't just going to be undone by the next episode? It comes across as a show that doesn't respect any set of rules or its audience.

I was a huge HP fan growing up. Owned all the books (even went to the midnight release of Deathly Hallows at Barnes & Noble) and all the movies. And it does hurt to abandon what was such a major part of my childhood. But trans lives are more important than my nostalgia.

My first Metroid game was Samus Returns, the remake of Metroid 2 that came out in 2017. It's literally never too late to get into a series. Who gives a fuck if you're not caught up on the lore or whatever, if you think the game looks interesting then go for it.

I feel like passengers in emergency exit rows on planes are too complacent that nothing's going to happen on the flight. I don't actually trust that their skills will be sharp enough in an emergency. Pilots should be able to randomly simulate maydays to keep them on their toes.

Technically yes but not by as much as it seems. On paper BCS has one more season than BB, but BB's season 5 is longer than usual and had a long hiatus in the middle, so it's kinda two seasons. In terms of number of episodes, BB has 62 and BCS has 63, so BCS is just *barely* longer.
