Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 18/07/2026Took a break from coding and Calc II to visit the Georgia Museum of Art for a class project. Trying hard not to drown in assignments this week😂 #georgiamuseumofart #uga #athensga 010
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 06/07/2026I’ve been trying with new ways to learn coding through simple projects + AI. So far, this my fav workflow: 1. Read up on a framework 2. Chat with AI about any lingering misconceptions 3. Try building the functionality in a real project Actually helps a lot with active recall. Thoughts? 010
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Ok so maybe electron isn't that bad if I start with a template instead of building everything from scratch... My last project had me spending hours just trying to get a simple test app running. Progress 📈 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 01/07/2026I’ve been experimenting with new ways to learn coding through simple projects and AI. I noticed that if you can exercise enough restraint trying to code a function, then have AI check your code for errors, you end up retaining a lot. Tedious but helpful. 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Ok, so I’m currently on electron using a template for my project and everything is booting up flawlessly. There’s no way it’s actually this easy. My last project had me spending hours just trying to get a simple test app running… 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 24/06/2026C++ used to be my Jam, but I think I’m starting to appreciate the convenience of higher level languages like JS. Makes getting started on a project much less stressful 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 21/06/2026How do people handle going long periods of time without touching code? Most syntax feels fuzzy in my brain, so I'm constantly asking AI or googling concepts that was second nature before. Feels like I've forgotten half of what I knew 🙃 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 19/06/2026Spent the past 5 months focused entirely on school and it feels like I’ve lost my touch with programming. Crazy how a few months can make it feel like you’ve forgotten so much 😭 Feels like I’m starting from scratch lmao 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 18/01/2026Recently, I've been exploring options to port my React app to desktop + mobile. There's Electron, but man... it takes so much effort to get anything to run 😭 Atm I'm trying out Tauri, and it's been surprisingly smooth so far. The file I/O system actually feels a lot like Qt 010
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 13/01/2026Quick progress update: - Cleaned up the menu layout - Further balanced the theme colors - Dimensions fields resize the canvas now Today was much lighter now that school has started up again. Might do progress updates like these more often. Keeps me motivated when days get tough 🔥 000

Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 06/01/2026This month’s project is a digital scratch sheet app for math. The goal is to make working through problems feel as natural as possible without paper (not easy haha) #indiedev #typescript #react 150
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 06/01/2026Today I’ve been experimenting with different file-saving techniques in React, and I’m noticing that browser filesystem access is very limited. Workflows like loading and saving files without creating duplicates feel pretty convoluted, if they’re possible at all... 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 05/01/2026A couple months ago my barber cut my hair much lower than planned, so I’ve been rocking this look lately. It’s been lowkey growing on me 😂 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 03/01/2026For the past few weeks, I’ve been learning TypeScript, and now I genuinely can’t see why I’d code in JavaScript anymore 😆 It provides: - Type safety - Quality-of-life tools - Better structure for large codebases Are there any reasons you’d still choose JS over TS? 120

Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 26/09/2025In my rhythm game, Rebirth, I’m introducing Double Tap Notes! Another new mechanic that shakes up the classic rhythm game style: Tap once to lock the note in place, and tap again when the judgment rectangle matches the note's size to score points! This one is definitely one of favs :P #gamedev 262
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 26/09/2025Ok, given that I’m still adding a couple finishing touches, instead of rushing to get the video out today, I’ll 100% be posting it tomorrow. I apologize for the wait… Editing is truly a process 😅 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 22/09/2025It turns out that when I started recording, I was using the wrong settings, so I'll have to redo and edit the majority of my voice clips :( So, I likely won't be able to release the video today after all, but I'm aiming to have it ready by Friday. Until then, I'll keep y'all posted 👍 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 20/09/2025Ok I’ve decided to do a devlog on my Qt Rhythm game! So I’m gonna try and finish the video in time to release on Monday. Keeping all fingers crossed 🤞 010

Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 05/02/2025Bruh, I was gonna release it today until I found a way to shorten the trajectory line code by a significant amount lol. Ima spend a couple more days editing it in but I promise the tutorial is almost done guys 😭 000
Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 30/01/2025Life’s got me tied up real tight this week, so I’ll for sure need a few more days to finish editing the tutorial, but the goal is to drop it early next week :) I might just do GD4 for now unless there are GD3 out there who also really need one 000

Jadon Montgomery @the-jay-dev.bsky.social · 07/01/2025What’s crazy is that it appears to be quite unintuitive and tedious to change the playback speed of your animations using the tree in Godot 3. I just can’t get it to work 😔 Maybe I should stick to the plain old animated sprite node and try the tree again in GD4. I’ve heard it’s much better there 000
