With the new blu-ray release of Guyver: Dark Hero (and given that I haven’t promoted it in a while), may I point you in the direction of my (now) three-year-old book on the making of both Guyver films? It’s not perfect, but it’s mine and I learnt a lot from this project!

The Toy Robot release of GUYVER: DARK HERO Blu-ray is the dream release I've always wanted: 3 tracks, 70 minute making-of, and awesomely, an hour of raw fly-on-the-wall behind the scenes footage! The picture quality is what it is considering the film was shot on Super-16 and finished for video.

Looks like the Guyver: Dark Hero Blu is getting some decent reviews, even with the controversial use of AI on the enhanced version. The original version is on the first disc (so that’s a plus) and Steve seems chuffed with how it’s all turned out. Nice to read that my co-commentary has been enjoyed 👌🏻

Despite not being listed on either the packaging or the promo material, I do appear on this release. So, if you end up listening to my commentary on the Guyver: Dark Hero Blu-ray, hopefully you enjoy it. Thank you to the individual who sent this across to me.

While no promo material mentions it, I’ve had confirmation from Steve that my commentary track (with The Guyver Geek) is on the new G: DH Blu release. So, my annoying North London accent is now on both of the Guyver physical discs. I can only apologise for being on a lot of Guyver film media 😂😂

Spanish version of Budget Biomorphs is out soon. It's looking great! I cannot wait to have a copy and put it on my bookshelf (alongside my original English language copy). Despite its flaws (of which there are many), I'm still proud to have my work in physical form on a shelf 👌🏻

I haven’t edited anything in months (I’ve been a bit mentally drained), so as it’s Pride Month, I wanted to reshare my previous essay on The Crow: City of Angels, an inherently queer entry in the series (full of gender nonconformity and k⛓️nk culture) thatdomobrien.wordpress.com/2026/02/26/s...

If this is the final art (originally shared by Dawn of the Discs) then I’m very excited to see a HD version of it. I love the direction they’ve gone with the art. I believe this is a joint UK/US release, which will make this the first time Guyver 2: Dark Hero is used as a title within the UK.

I find it interesting that because I let someone know that I was unhappy about their behaviour towards me (during an incredibly hard time), that suddenly I'm deluded and the problem. The fact I'm happy to take accountability for my actions, but they are not (we were both at fault), boggles my mind.

Look, I really enjoy both of the Tomb Raider films with Jolie. Sometimes, you just need some adventure fluff with beautiful people. It also gets plus points for using an original NIN track (Deep).

This is one of my hopes for my own book and that others pursue their own projects because they believe in themselves. I’m still a little disappointed with how BB turned out (I really want to re-edit and expand on it) Btw, I’m always happy to chat and give advice to anyone who wants to be an author.

I’m not entirely sure why taking yourself out for a dinner date is seen as an act of defiance (societally), with some people still seeing it as a lonely or isolating thing (when actually it's rather liberating). The hardest thing is learning to be comfortable in your own company again.

Tonight’s bizarre double bill, because I’m working on essays for both. I also love each film for numerous reasons. I’ve said it recently, but it’s genuinely great to be writing again. I’m also available for commissions, if anyone wants to hire me. Action film theory is my speciality 🤘🏻

Sadly, I don’t yell about mine enough because more recently, I’m disappointed in how it turned out and I’d love to do a revised version. I don’t think my publisher would approve it though, since it hasn’t sold well enough to warrant a revised, expanded edition.

Whatever I’m taking at the moment has very much increased my ADHD traits (but once that’s calmed down my Autistic side goes into overdrive). It’s better than having consistent anxiety issues/meltdowns. Another side effect - I’m planning way more writing projects and ventures. Yay, I guess? 😂😂
