I think a lot of people, particularly on the anti-Democrat left, just don't get that there really is a very large contingent of GOP voters out there. They think there must be something especially shady going on, because they don't want to admit their GOP relatives really are awful people.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to *try* to fuck with things in some way or other. They've already been doing that with the attempts at killing mail ballots (plus there's always gerrymandering, etc.) But as always, it's mostly a matter of numbers + the structure of the government.

This incident involved having to tear out that entire wall (which had a floor to ceiling cabinet unit which contained the fridge, microwave and wall oven) plus replace the subfloor and insulation in the crawlspace underneath it. We were without the use of the kitchen for ~5 months. It was horrible.

I should also mention that the way we discovered this was when the pantry on the other side of the wall started growing mold from an unrelated bit of plumbing fuckery (weak weld on a copper pipe that popped open when the installers of our new fridge pushed too hard sliding it into place.)

Not electrical, but we discovered a few years ago that the original builders of our house had poked a nail through a drain pipe going from a bathroom upstairs through a wall of the kitchen. 13 years of living with a slow sewage leak in our wall.

Cases like this make it obvious that this is NOT about deportation. If they were just picking up people who have final removal orders and quickly getting them on a plane back to their home country, that would be one thing. Instead, they're holding people while their cases take forever to process.
