It took me over half an hour to recover to the point I could verbalise *anything* - never mind articulate anything. Over an hour before I could move of my own volition.

I... stopped. In the middle of a crowd of people walking towards me, in a railway station in Japan. I couldn't move, talk, respond in any way. My wife had to take my by the hand & slowly pull me out of the station & to a small park nearby.

The next couple of months (at the very least) are going to be hectic; but potentially _very_ enjoyable! My co-workers are bunch of nice people - every one of them (that I've met so far) came into IT in an unconventional way.

Just completed my first week at a new job. Fun, challenging, crazy busy at times; but... supportive, flexible, one that I'll be able to do along with continuing my MSc, and they *actively encourage* learning. :D

#webcomicsday Hey, if you're looking for a funny, lighthearted, chaotic romcom to read for free, you just found it! *Side Quested*, where a overthinker librarian falls in love with the Prince's fiancee, befriends a talking vulture, and makes dumb decisions! Also, dragons. tapas.io/series/SideQ...

Side Quested's cober art, with the main cast: Charlie (center), Peony (the bird), Robin (the pink princess), Leopold (the prince with the sword) and Babs (the ancient red dragon in the background).

A page from the comic where Charlie offers delicious food to a monster to make a deal.

The page from the comic where Princess Robin throws a tea table through the wall, calling Prince Leopold a jerk.

The page from the comic where the kids are discussing royal marriages and war, in the Queen's beautiful cottage garden.

Gartsherrie was one of the biggest ironworks in the world with 16 blast furnaces. Within a decade Scotland went from net importer to net exporter of pig iron. William Baird & Co owned other ironworks & mines including the whole Isle of Raasay www.culturenlmuseums.co.uk/story/the-ba... 2/2

A large scale oil painting showing a pig iron works at night. two rows of tall, cylindrical blast furnaces have flames leaping from their open tops while smoke pours out and to the left from four tall industrial chimneys. In the foreground is an early railway line over a bridge.

#OTD in 1796 ironmaster William Baird was born at Woodhead Farm, Old Monkland. With his brothers William established the Gartsherrie Iron Works in Coatbridge in 1830, the 1st pig iron works purpose built to use James Beaumont Neilson's recently patented Hot Blast Process 1/2

Black and white engraving from a painted portrait of a man of about 50 in a heavy coat and a cravat covering his neck. He stands before a classical column and holds a piece of folded paper in his left hand.

Detail from the first Ordnance Survey map of Old Monkland from the 1850s, showing the settlement of Old Monkland surrounded by fields and a short distance to the north a farmstead labelled Woodhead.

A colour reproduction of a painting of Woodhead Farm. A single, low and thatched buildign has several people outside it, along with hens, cows and a pig.

If you’re tempted to try one of these for yourself, then you need Memory Mapper: memorymapper.github.io Fantastic way to unite #OralHistory, #LocalHistory, photos, and other evidence sources… One of interest to @oneplacestudies.bsky.social too I suspect? #FamilyHistory #Genealogy #maps

Great to see these digital 'memory #maps' of Anglo-Jewish #history flagged on Laura Vaughan's blog. They unite oral history, images and local context & there's one for London, one for Manchester - should be of interest to Jewish #genealogy researchers & One-Placers, amongst others:

Happy Valentine's Day! Whether you celebrate romantic love or platonic love or slippery-when-wet love or you just love scowling at some royal dingus with high opinions of himself, may today be good to you. A GIRL AND HER FED - www.agirlandherfed.com SIDE QUESTED - sidequested.com

Two art pieces from the two comics. At A GIRL AND HER FED, Josh and Mare are snuggling in blankets, reminiscent of Klimt's classic painting, "The Kiss."

At SIDE QUESTED, Prince Leopold is holding aloft a heart-shaped box while Charlie and Robin try to figure out what to do with him.
