There's a really important point in here: the term 'deportation' has become Newspeak. The correct term is "human trafficking" because what this regime is doing fits that description much more than the genteel ideas we hold about 'deportation.'

I mean, I'll still POKE that feeling and try to get myself to a better place, but I don't owe anyone my affection or regard. Civility, yeah, but civility or even limited kindness/effort are easier to manage if I don't try to kid myself into believing it's anything deeper than that.

It was many revolutions around the sun before I gave myself permission to Just Not Like some of the people who come into my social orbit, and to not need to explain or justify it even to myself. Not everyone likes everyone, I can dislike someone or someone can (ouch) dislike me for no clear reason.

I never engaged with the HP universe--too old to have done so as a kid and don't have kids to have read/watched with. Spouse read the books 10+ years ago; I meant to get to it, didn't, obviously won't now. Just happenstance, but every time JKR pops up, I'm glad I can give Harry Potter a giant yawn.

We are a broken nation. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians were living and working legally, paying taxes, and contributing. Haiti remains wholly unsafe. But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.
