I think it's reasonable of the designers to not make a gimmick mechanic enticingly parasitic, but it feels like there are a lot of hoops to jump through to justify playing with Empower Jace at all besides as just something to help churn through a generic good stuff deck in limited. Woof.

I gotta say, fundamentally misunderstood that RS doesn't put those counters on itself or a Jace you control. That's my fault for not reading fully, but it feels kind of annoying because when you Amass an army you just put counters on it. RS doesn't have any reminder text. Frustrating, but on me.

If you choose to play the empower cards themselves, Countersculpt is at least good enough to play with the gimmick to give you hope to reach the goal. Keeper of the Quiet Hour is a fine roleplayer/blocker. Way of the Pyromancer is actually good in addition to the ajani one, my mistake on that.

The "Way of" cards meant to support this gimmick mechanic, with the exception of the life gain one that adds loyalty, are not playable. You would be better served to lean into anything else as they are over-costed in terms of what you pay from mana and the loyalty you're eating from your Jaces.

Also, RS is 5 mana? This card is the biggest trap to ever trap. Even if you get it out on 4 with Geist of Saint Thalia synergy or choose to ramp with G in your primarily U deck, it's still not pretty.

Protect itself and the Jace token, that's somewhat meaningless because the token cannot accumulate loyalty on its own and you're losing progress toward your win condition to do that. And RS can only give it loyalty based on your islands. A TON of safety valves on this card.
