He’s been the most mismanaged economic policies you could imagine. We need a global policy & a new Bretton Woods. This isn’t possible until it’s past crisis.

Rachel Reeves made the mistake of not introducing an exit tax in line with other major economies. Not punitive, just in line with other similar economies. I’d be very surprised if John Healey makes the same mistake, but the ship has already started sailing where we have lost unpatriotic taxpayers.

It’s embarrassing the new #iPhone in the UK still has a physical SIM card tray. The fact we haven’t regulated to give every customer the option to switch to eSIM and get multiple benefits is a shitshow. The main benefit is battery life but it is also great for tourism and having a second number.

Windfall taxes on oil and gas is understandable but there will obviously be limits to what is fair. During Covid we didn’t bail them out so it’s not like taxes on banks.

This is going to be a brutal winter for both #Russia and #Ukraine, this will be the first winter where Russia will have full scale attacks on its power stations, whilst Ukraine is more prepared but has less air defence than ever. Ukraine will hopefully have Ballistic missiles by then but no defence.

If the #AI bubble bursts, this is the time for the UK to catch up to France which has much more compute and the only real LLM lab in Europe. But we in the UK have a bigger AI sector and are 3rd in the world. But we need to keep this position but not at inflated costs now. Data centres need an ROI.

It’s under rated that #Apple have made their own modem which is as good as Qualcomm despite all the patents they have & uses 15% less battery. Modems are a graveyard for tech companies. In fact this previously failing project was bought from Intel for $1bn. The N1 networking chip is great as well.

I worry about the advertising industry a little if #AI companies have to cut back on spending. The good news is many advertisers are part of the ‘stack’ that actually puts AI to good use, building SaaS products that are useful. But like the dotcom bubble, not all of these will survive.

People have no idea what the modern war in #Ukraine is like. There are not trenches on both sides a few miles apart. There are infiltration groups of 1-5 people in basements on both sides of the contact line, with massive grey zones where anything that moves gets hit by exploding drones.

With Oil prices at a recent high, we should look at Carpooling, workplaces should introduce schemes. I played with the BlaBlaCar app and it looks decent but needs more users, it shows National Express coaches which are expensive but the few ride shares were very affordable. £8 for a 70 mile drive.

Democrats are leading Republicans in some polls on immigration. #Trump was never a very popular populist, but he knew what issue resonates. It’s working across Europe, but I think having ICE officers masked and lawless in Minniapolis killing innocent US citizens was beyond the pale for independents.

In another universe if we didn’t have a debt to GDP of 95% + rising, Andy #Burnham or any decent progressive leader would be able to easily show improvements in key areas as there would be no massive imperative to have at least one year of surplus. #MacOS27 Golden Gate is the best update in many years. The design is fixed, performance is improved, search and Siri are surprisingly very good. Indexing will take a day but it can find needles in haystacks unlike Windows search. Even the traffic lights and corner radius are uniform. Nice one #Apple

We need to combat money laundering, in the UK only 9% of transactions are in cash. #Apple and #Google should allow money to be transferred to each other’s devices without taking a cut. In the same way BACS is so efficient and free. We should work towards a cashless society. I’m not a fan of #crypto.
