Incredible to print this in a newspaper
People aren’t working around here because they can get on PIP, so they sit around and do drugs and drink,” says Stephen Walker, a 65-year-old drummer who helps manage a Beatles memorabilia store, as he strolls through Walton on a recent day. “It’s unfair. I work and pay my taxes.”

Walker acknowledges some people do need the help—including three of his grandchildren, who are on PIP. But he says too many people just use it to top up their income and don’t get jobs.

She condemned the Biden U.S. arms deal with Israel, and as retaliation the Biden administration opened an investigation against her. The Trump administration is actually piggybacking off that Democratic investigation. Both parties are cesspools of Islamophobia.

He used his IRA account to buy private paypal shares below their value at like $0.001 per share, staying under the $2000 annual contribution limit AND making his taxable income less than the $110k IRA restriction. You, a regular person, cannot do this

actually having a bunch of rich assholes decide everything is antithetical to democracy. it is incompatible with it, and if allowed to continue, it will destroy it. we have to be able to just stand up and say that, in any context

This is funny to me because one of the arguments constantly made against the welfare state (and indeed one of the O.G. arguments against democracy itself) is that people will bankrupt the government by voting themselves free money. As it turns out, no they won't.

I went to one philosophy club meeting in undergrad. The topic was "what is art?" and this was the first slide. Everyone who spoke agreed it wasn't. Even the professors didn't take the other side. I didn't say anything because I hadn't really collected my thoughts into an argument.

The reality is that there is no non-violent way to non-consensually end a healthy human being's life. The effort spent to fool death penalty advocates into thinking they are participating in something clean and surgical makes an already barbaric spectacle disgustingly hypocritical as well.

The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
The lone woman on Tennessee's death row was still alive after she was administered two lethal injections, her lawyer said in a motion seeking to halt her execution Wednesday night, a stunning development after the Supreme Court had stepped in to allow the state to put her to death.
At 8:26 p.m. local time, witnesses said
"executioners had injected both syringes of lethal injection chemicals and Pike is still alive and snoring," her lawyers said in a federal court filing.
They said Pike "has not lost consciousness and still has a heartbeat," and that curtains to the death chamber "have gone down twice."

Read the NHJ piece and, while I think I agree with her in the broad strokes I find the details a bit baffling. The core of the whole piece, the key evidence of educational failure, is that her daughter struggled at the start of high school. But that's all over in a few weeks.
By the semester’s end, she was earning nearly all A’s and B’s.
