the true moral of this nasa story is this: if you present anything as a choice to management, be it testing or other safety critical work, they will see it as optional, and will default to saying no doing anything more than the minimum best practice means taking more responsibilities for delays

one of the more 'deep magic' parts of electronics i have encountered is "actually, we don't send the current down the copper, that would be a disaster" instead, they use the wire as a waveguide, and get terabit speeds out of it from youtu.be/Em_2YRZjEdI

three strands of copper wire have an airgap in the space between them, and this can be used as a waveguide for high frequency radio signals, rather than sending the current along the actual wire

feeling a little put-off by the 1/n markers as they feel in the wrong place, and pull attention away from the end of a post the key bit seems to be "an image only post has 1/2 above the image" which just seems wrong the right hand corner seems a much nicer place to put things, easier to skim too

i know one of you is going to ask but yeah the circled point on the crease diagram shouldn't be two straight lines intersecting, you'd need angled lines to get the same result on the model (also circled) the bit in blue? no idea what's up there. the model simply does not look like that
