Indeed. Non-rent specific inflation calculator has that at:£16.13! Post-grad uni hall '85 - c.£20. Single bed room, washbasin, shared kitchen, bath & loo. Leccy inc. Inflation calc = £64.81 But same place, now private & upgraded. Double bedded ensuite, shared kitchen. Leccy & broadband inc. c.£190.

Gosh, yes! Mattress on the floor, single bar electric fire, electrics joined with tape & hanging streamer-style, a bathroom shared by 9 with a 10p meter to heat the water (into which others listened to you putting the money, so they could race to use the water before you could)....

Ah, pineapple! Back from the vet with GC & big shop imminent, so combined ease with a grand use-up. Mozzarella, tomato & oregano mini croques. Cacio e pepe pasta fritta bites. Bean salad, corn, red & Aleppo pepper salad, Polish veg salad, slaw. Strawberries, Nougat de Tours. Glass of chardonnay.

Attempting to find some cheer, swerved by the Co-op on the way back from dropping GC off at the vet's this morning. All we wanted were Sea Salt & Chardonnay Wine Vinegar Crisps. Guess which were the only crisps they didn't have?

Exorbitant bonkers. One of us had a room in a grotty HMO instead with bathroom & toilet shared between 9: £5pw in '77, gas & electricity metered extra. Adjusted for inflation to this year (admittedly not a rent-specific calculation): £30.50pw.

Update from the vet: GC's post-op; had the bloods & an extra one done, poo sent for testing, general anaesthetic, x-rays of mouth, scaling, 3 teeth extracted. We've had 875 pounds extracted😬

Enforced meandering round town resulted in more shopping than intended, retail's fruitless searching & ad hoc lunching at Pho. As quietly competent and fresh flavoured as ever. Photos taken after M NotLeafy mixed coriander & lime into his bowl & Mme'd stirred hers, messing up their pretty plating.
