Star Trek was also far more philosophical. In the 1960s to have been guided by 'The Prime Directive' to discover new worlds (not to conquer or control them), to acknowledge space as the final frontier, to include an Asian, a Russian, a black woman, and a Vulcan (alien) crossed all barriers.
