Wholesome stuff people have done in a city park.

A stack of four small round rocks stands precariously on a tree stump. A sunlit forest is in the background and the rocks are lit with a beam of sunlight. It must have taken a long time to get these rocks to balance so precisely!

On the back of a concrete bench in the forest, upside down graffiti in black ink says “I love my gf”. That’s good! Good for you!

I found hair ice! I’ve never seen it before. It forms on dead wood when temps are freezing but humidity is high, and needs a particular fungus in order to form. Seems like the mechanisms for why the strands of ice are so thin and why the ice lasts longer than other frosts are poorly understood.

If you know me then you know that if you get out the fog machines and do fun lighting effects I will be a happy camper. Astra Lumina knew just what to do.

Semicircular structures are arranged down a path to suggest a portal to a magical realm. The insides of the semicircles are lit up with orange and white lights and are emitting fog. Around the base of each arch are mossy rocks.

I love the rain but I’m so very thankful I was able to escape the cold wet weather and head down the coast for the holiday weekend.

Tbt April 2024 and that intense solar storm that let me see the aurora for the first time. I may be spoiled for future solar storms…recently there have been G4 storms which should have allowed for northern lights above Seattle, but clouds got in the way…

Had some friends over for Halloween and we got out our dullest steak knives and attacked some pumpkins and then set them on fire. Absolutely one of the best holiday traditions.
