I mean, I grew up with stories of my great-uncle hosting poker games with mobsters on one side and police officials on the other. Regal couldn't bother paying ticket office staff, instead relying on two overworked concession employees to sell tickets as well as fill orders, but they could pay a rent-a-cop in a tac vest to stand there with his hand resting on his taser lest anyone try sneaking in. /2

I mean, at least the grocery security guys have been nice. They say hi to people, ask how they're doing. I usually take my dad shopping, when they spotted me walking in alone one day they asked if dad was okay The one that the (since bought out) Regal theater employed, on the other hand... /1

Timeline cleanse: American pikas calling to each other in the Canadian Rockies. Sound on to hear the loud “MEEP!” made by these potato sized alpine mammals. They’re way off under those cliffs but the calls travel. *this is likely a niche post, but it’s one of my favorite sounds in the world.

The last time I was at an A&W (a number of years ago) an off-duty employee went sprinting across the store and fled the building after a pair of fursuiters bounced over …apparently her coworkers knew she was deathly afraid of mascot costumes when asking the fursuiters to go say hi to her

Around my area, the biggest surprise security-wise in the past few years was the addition of a visible security guard at the grocery store …but that started after A) a cashier being shot in the store by her husband and B) some out of state mental case hopping off a bus and stabbing a kid in the lot

Pro tip: you don’t have to comm artists to boost and support them. People claim they can’t support artists and creators because they are financially strapped, but they can still boost posts, comment, like, and in general just be supportive! It’s completely free outside of an internet connection ;)
