Apparently my parents had this turtle soup tureen hiding in the cupboard above the fridge THIS WHOLE TIME and I never knew about it until Etelka unearthed it. It has a matching ladle inside! I had to take it!

Made lifelong friends there and was young enough to transform it into a fairyland upon occasion. I’ll never forget it and I’ll probably never live in another place with a river view of Manhattan. I hope it will always feel like home even though we have no place to land there anymore.

It was such a great place to grow up. Like a small town. A real community. In the 90s it wasn’t bougie like it is now- more mixed income, mixed race, lots of elderly and disabled, lots of UN employees and civil servants.

Here’s a random one. Found a shopping bag full of mixed coins from all over the world. Probably about 5 lbs heavy. From every place my parents traveled, I think. I don’t wanna throw away money but you can’t really easily exchange them. Is there an easy way to donate random international coins???

Well, I’ve taken all I want to keep. There are still some odds and ends of business to finish so I’ll likely be back a few more times, but we managed to find places for what we kept (or at least, space in the office to pile the bins of what we kept.) Goodbye to the Roosevelt Island apartment.

If we’d bring them in ourselves we’d get that full 10%, but we can’t transport all those books so if they move forward we’re going to take the option where they hire a moving company to come pack and get them, and take that out of our cut. Which may mean we get close to $0 but again, we don’t care.

(It wouldn’t be a large sum of money, probably about 10% of what the sellable books are worth, but that’s not why we’re doing this!) He estimated there are about 4,300 books total, which is close to Sean’s estimate!

Took my old iPhone to the UPS store to send it back to Verizon so I get my trade in knocked off the bill. I chose the option where they just scan a code and are supposed to pack it up for you. So the lady just throws my phone in a box and tapes it up.
