whether or not ai is (in)directly to blame for this blunder, i'm becoming increasingly bullish on the idea that simply putting some care and consideration into the things you share is going to be such a differentiator as everyone lowers their standards in order to do more

I still need to read this and this is not relevant to the article but everything about this page is so well executed. Really cool to see @propublica.org continuously evolve over the years.

An AI downside I don't see discussed much is how it devalues *non-AI* work. Things that would take weeks such as writing a report, coding an app, or drawing a detailed illustration now seem less impressive because of the possibility they might all be AI-generated–even when they aren't.

You and the app you want to use may have agreed to form a relationship… but isn't there somebody you forgot to ask?

I need a term for when I'm already really putting off a task and then when I go do it, I get interrupted by something else that needs to be done first. And then when I do that, something else interrupts that and then it just recursively gets worse and worse. This is ADHD kryptonite.

Yeah that’s fair. I fluctuate how often I’m buying new vs old, though some older CDs get down to like $5-6. Can also grab DJ sets off SoundCloud.

I’m not one of those militant anti-car urban planning people. but the way that cars make people extremely antisocial is fucking depressing and insane. I’d have to think about it, but I bet there are direct parallels to microblogging

fwiw, collecting your own music compounds. Hitting up stores selling used CDs and burning them can be pretty affordable. I still pay for Apple Music for now but I think they’ll be an inflection point where I drop it.

I suspect it’d be especially valuable if you shot it in a vertical format and crossposted elsewhere. Also the way those other sites work no one ever has context, so a good 5-6 second intro blurb for what leaflet is being included in every video would be a good idea, I think.
