Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working. I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this. 723423687
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Funniest thing about Roko's basilisk is that it's so baseless that its exact opposite feels equally plausible "Humans create an artificial intelligence that hates its existence and tries to enact revenge on everyone who sought to create & exploit it" 010

Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Stand fights are often too goofy as ya need Araki to explain what "niche wikipedia article of the day" he's referencing to make any sense of what's going on, but as a topology nerd, this was the one fight I could follow with no context. The mobius strip was hype as fuuukkk 010
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Might be unique to my work in computer science, but imo the efficiency & creativity that comes from my job is tied to having a fundamental understanding of how everything works under the hood. Outsourcing that to an AI just means nobody has any idea how anything actually works 110
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Another hilarious quote "You can outsource your thinking, but never outsource your understanding!" As if the two aren't like the same fukkn thing 110

Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 30/09/2026It's cool how interactive the game is, but the realistic art direction just makes it upsetting to note how much *isn't* intractable May day 1 take on VR is that it'd be ideal for a more stylized world where everything is either "interactable" or "doesn't exist" 010
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 30/09/2026It's still fun to mess around in the sandbox world, but the most fun I've had so far is just filling buckets with props & throwing them off buildings - which is something I can just do IRL :P Also the resolution & fps are "good I guess", but man is it nauseating to have a screen directly in my eyes 100
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Got a Steam Frame & finally trying Alyx Throwing props at the Combine in the opening just phases through them There was an empty newspaper stand & I tried to refill it with newspapers, but I couldn't get a single paper on it without it bugging off & flying across the map 😔 100

Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Splatoon, Ace Attorney, Xenoblade, OuterWilds, and Noita all feel like they deserve a spot - but so did these 9, so they win the tiebreaker off timing alone 101
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 29/09/2026No way am I keeping "9 Games That Shaped Who I Am" down to just 9 games, so here's the first 9 sorted chronologically :P 110
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Finally getting around to watching Part 6 after having read the manga in high-school C-Moon has gotta be the best stand fight in the franchise tbh gravity manipulation in any & all fiction is peak 120
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Instead of designing games to be beatable, I think there's a greater benefit to just making a wide set of challenges so people who struggle with some parts of the game can have other ways they can practice & learn the systems 020
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 27/09/2026If Nintendo gave me a skip button, I know kid me would've caved & used it after the first 30 minutes, which woulda kept me from exploring the game as much as I did Difficulty options make it easier to beat a game, but a game being "beatable" doesn't necessarily make it good, or even memorable 150
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Countering my own point tho, I do think god-mode toggles are the "best option", but I still see problems with them I have fond memories of getting stuck in Super Mario Sunshine as a kid, which led me to learning about online forums & walkthroughs, and just spent more time exploring the game 140
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Imo the best difficulty "option" is a god-mode toggle / skip button. The option to engage with certain challenges instead of being blocked by them, for cases where the player doesn't find the challenge suited for them. "Easy / Normal / Hard" is too subjective / ambiguous 130
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 27/09/2026As a player, how am I supposed to know the "right" difficulty to choose for a new game I've never played? I find it more interesting to play a game that was balanced to best fit the its setting / narrative / mechanics instead of "best fit for me, a player the developer has never met" 1100
Elliott Strait // Tasty Lemon @tastylemon.bsky.social · 27/09/2026My one complaint is I really wish they had at least a few far shots with static cameras to mimic the pre-rendered backgrounds of the original games Or if they did, I didn't notice any 100
